The only thing this place needs is more customers! It's new and I want to get the word out (hoping that it doesn't become over-crowded by letting people in on a neighbourhood secret). If you love Taschen books like I do, you can lose yourself looking at the books, to the point of being unsocial. The staff are terrific, they have good snacks to go with your tipple and they are dog friendly if you have a well-behaved pooch. If I was trying to find a criticism, albeit difficult, I would say that they have a great selection of wine, but the quality could be improved at this price-point. See Zebra Lounge down the road for a great example. Thank you, we will be back!
I went back to 'Edition' fully expecting that the venue could not possibly, no-way, no-how, live up to my first-timer's wonderful, fabulous review. WRONG! The people behind the bar are candidates for cloning, and the ONLY thing missing is a few more book-lovers and readers to share the stools with me! I'm hungry for real people who love the printed word, and this spot has everything needed. I'm saving a place on the comfy sofa for you... don't bother to bring your book along...pick one off the shelf and we'll get started...I don't go every night of the week...but I'm good for at least TWO! Look for the guy with the smile, wearing the glasses...
If you like the printed word, good company a comfy setting and a no-rush atmosphere this IS the Book-Lover's-Bee's Knees! Staff are wonderful, attentive and know when to come, or when to just leave ya to talk literature... walls are lined with good reads and table-top books from some of the very best. Plant yourself on some comfy chairs like we did, and just enjoy the space. The owners are book-lovers, and you'll soon 'get it' by just looking around the place. Walls are lined with titles you've just gotta have.
I sent one review for Edition from my phone, but wanted to make sure I could spread the good word. The atmosphere was great, really comfy overstuffed leather couches and great food. The service was wonderful, and no problem having all food allergies and intolerances attended to - by smiling helpful staff - who made me feel like it was no problem. Visited here while waiting for a friend, ended up staying for a few drinks because Chris the manager was so kind and the vibe was exactly what we were looking for, for a relaxed drink while we chatted and flicked through a few books. Definitely will return!
As a Seattle resident, I felt right at home at this restaurant. I enjoyed relaxing with a book and a cup of coffee on their trendy covered patio.
Sappho excels in every aspect. Their bookstore offers reasonably priced books with a wide and diverse selection.
