We got to Wengen to find that they take the off season seriously here. Of the dozen or so restaurants in Wengen the Eiger was the only one open. I went in to make a reservation, not really necessary as it turned out as we were one of only three couples dining this evening, and perused the menu when I did. The deer stew appealed to me so I asked if they’d have it that night. They said “no”; I looked crestfallen; so they said they ask the chef when he came in if he’d make it for me. Cute little place, we just happened to stumble upon it after getting off the ski lift and wanted something not so touristy for lunch. It was near full about 1230, but we were able to get a table for 2. The draft beer was excellent. The salad with bacon, egg, lamb leaf lettuce and dressing was to die for very surprised and I couldn't put down the fork. We split the salad and also ordered cheese fondue. It was good, a bit strong for our taste. Prices reasonable, recommend. Menu is a bit limited for lunch, a few spaghetti options, soups, as well as the traditional Swiss potatoe hash plates with a sunny side up egg.
We walked around town looking for a restaurant and were told that this was the only one open, everyone else was closed for the season. Good for us! We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful view and a delicious dinner. Service was good and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. We will definitely return.
My wife and I had dinner here. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced by Swiss standards. The roasted chicken with potatoes was huge. Same for the burrata and tomato salad. Service was very good and friendly. An excellent option for dinner in Wengen.
