I've known this hotel/restaurant for over 25 years, in fact since I moved to this area, and have enjoyed many celebratory meals here. Sadly my work schedule seldom allows me to stop off in Calahonda to eat, but a visit by family from the UK provided the excuse to revisit El Ancla, and we weren't disappointed. Our various tastes, from traditionally English to typically Spanish, were all catered for, with a bit of Italian thrown in, and we all ate well too well in fact as most of us we were defeated by the large servings. Third time eating at El ancla over last 15 years and was a bit disappointed. Had the parrillada argentina and tomato salad with cantabrian anchovies as that’s what I had last time I was here (4 years ago) and quality has dropped. Parrillada was dry and overcooked and the cuts used were fatty and cheap. The salad was ok but only about 4 anchovy fillets on a huge salad and the tomatoes were virtually tasteless. The Rioja was nice.....
Situado justo al lado de la playa, era un lugar decente para cenar. El camarero fue eficaz y educado. Comimos paella de marisco, padrones, patatas bravas y flan. La paella era buena, los perdones sabían como deberían (aunque no tenían sal), las papas eran un poco decepcionantes (sabían ketchupy) y el flan era excelente. Los precios son un poco altos.
Muy bien, recomiendo este restaurante, muy buena relación calidad-precio. buena sangría, muy buen pescado (de lubina) servicio nada que quejarse el camarero escucha al cliente, volveré con los ojos cerrados.
El pescado del día está riquísimo, pero la paella está bien. Comí en Puerto de la Cruz, me gustó más. Las porciones son grandes, los camareros son muy amables, el ambiente es un milagro, con vista al mar :

Buena comida y porciones ENORMES! Los pescados son excelentes. También fue fácil para mi amiga, que es celíaca, pedir una comida sin gluten.
La comida tiene un sabor excelente, con buena presentación y una vista preciosa. El personal también es muy amable.
¡Definitivamente un gusto de primer nivel por los mariscos!
