After a long-haul flight, we arrived at this restaurant which was conveniently located next to our hotel. The manager seemed displeased with our arrival and did not make an effort to seat us, instead trying to persuade us to leave. We were willing to wait, but the manager was not accommodating. However, a cheerful and friendly female staff member assured us that a table would be available in just ten minutes. True to her word, we were seated promptly, much to the manager's dismay. The portions were small and the food was average, with prices on the higher side for what was served. Despite being grateful for a nearby dining option after our journey, we do not plan to return to this restaurant...
We went to El Pirata on a busy Friday evening after reading positive reviews. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the hype. The tapas was decent but nothing exceptional; I have had much better in Spain and London. The portion sizes were small for the price. The atmosphere was lively but the dim lighting made it difficult to read the menu without using a phone flashlight. The service was efficient but lacking in customer empathy. The total bill for two people, including drinks and six tapas, came to £90. While Mayfair prices are expected to be high, this meal did not offer good value for the money.
Amazing gem down a side road best tapas ever … better than any I’ve eaten in Spain! We decided to pop in for a bite to eat before a function around the corner, found it on google maps and thought we would give it a go! They found a table for us no problem without a reservation. The food hands down was amazing, lots of choice superb quality, wine was lush, it’s not somewhere (as in area) I would normally go to in London, but it’s now on my saved list and I will make a visit here again especially!
The place remains super popular and even at lunch was full and it is quite noisy. Tapas really enjoyable although don’t go if you are on a healthy eating plan lots of rich oils involved in the cooking process! Lemon sorbet not worth the money. Service was a bit hit and miss with the staff not seemingly dedicated to tables/sections we had 4 different people. We weren’t hurried away despite being there over 2 hours. There really is an endless amount of restaurants in Mayfair and because of this wonderful dilemma, you might miss this Spanish restaurant. Don’t miss it. The service is excellent and the paella was a particular high point, we tried both. Our group of five was seated downstairs and had a little stone alcove. I swear you blink and you’re in Spain!
It has been a while since my last visit to this restaurant, but I was not let down. I still believe this is the top Tapas spot in London, as its 30-year history attests. The food was exceptional, the cocktails delicious, and the staff knowledgeable and attentive. If you're in London and craving Tapas, this is the place to be.
Walked past many times but not poped but it always looked popular. Early Saturday evening walked in and could only eat at bar as fully booked. Tapas was very good and the service can recommend Brocolini salad, Gambas pil-pil, Berenjena and Pinchos. Will return and definitely book to make sure we can get in...
We had a lovely meal here. It was packed which was great just after Christmas and we experienced a first class service from the friendly staff and the food was excellent. It was a very reasonable price considering the location and we will definitely be retuning. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
