In the end the food was good but when you advertise a 'especial ' you should honor it at 9.95 and not charge the customer the full 19.50 for the entree. Came to get two entrees and have a couple of beers and use the new Entertainment coupon which was buy one entree get one of equal or lesser value (up to $10). Took a short while to get our chips and salsa (two kinds one was warm which was really good never had that before) and had to ask the woman who brought the chips and salsa for clean and dry plates. Ordered the red snapper 7 manos special as you can see from the photo was 9.95 but when the bill came we were charged the full price and the server started to tell us, as customers that we d...

Yum! This place was an absolutely treat! I used to come here with my mom as a kid and it was nice to come back as an adult! My friend and I stopped in and didn't think we were that hungry but the portions had something else in mind for us. We decided to split the queso fondue (queso fundido) with chorizo and it was exactly what queso fundido should be. Delicious! Free chips and salsa comes to the table, as well. One spicy, cold salsa and a mild warmed up salsa, both very good. We also split the fajitas for two with steak, chicken and shrimp. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and everything I could want. The chicken and steak were also pretty good and it blended very well with the peppers and o...

Best place to practice your Spanish! (Shout out to Liz! Love this place and have been coming here on/off for years. Their food is hearty and the prices are on point! My recommendations: I love the tostadas and their corn tamales. It comes with homemade refried beans and delicious Mexican style rice! I love that they have Horchata! It's my favorite drink and theirs is good (not the best I've had but delicious enough for me to order a second glass to take home. Desserts: I recommend the sopapilla- they are fried chips in cinnamon and dough. Sooo yummy and similar to Taco Bell's cinnamon twists in flavor. Wednesdays (Miercoles are half-priced margaritas. I've had the coconut and it goes down su...

El Tipico has been a staple for years, and I can't think of another authentic Mexican restaurant in Skokie. Personally, I love their soft and flavorful carne asada. It's always satisfying, and I'm continually impressed by the generous portion relative to the price—definitely a great value for your money. The ambiance is casual, featuring at least three flat-screen TVs, and I'm sure they attract a considerable lunch crowd given their extensive lunch menu, which also includes a variety of seafood options. The complimentary chips and two types of salsa (both hot and mild) really kickstart your appetite—I always ask for another basket! While I enjoy visiting Pilsen for its vibrant Mexican atmosp... 1. The front door is in disrepair, which is the first thing patrons notice and it's not inviting. 2. The host was less friendly than I would have liked; a proper greeting goes a long way. 3. We had to request silverware and napkins, then waited a long time to receive them. 4. There’s a hole in the tile floor that definitely needs repair—this is a potential lawsuit waiting to happen! 5. Who decided to put large-screen TVs in the dining area? It feels more like a sports bar, which is quite tacky. 6. The menus are stained and look cheap, which is unappealing. 7. The worn-out chairs from the 1990s need to be replaced. While the food is still fantastic, the front-of-house experience lacks the ne...

I was there yesterday, OMG, what a disappointing place, I ordered fajitas and also ordered by a friend, well! no tortillas came with the food, we had to ask for them, the food got cold before the tortillas arrived, I voiced my complaint to the waiter, he was not very proactive, he decided to take it personally, my plate was so different to the other plate, is like they run out of dishes and found some in the dumpster, the quality of the food was bad, very bland Mexican food bland)? this one was! drinks from the bar? I had to get up and go to the bar to get them, water? they took it away without asking... so you people take a chance and go there... or maybe a better place would be Taco bell.

Last night, our group of eight was craving Mexican food, and I called to check what time the kitchen closed. The staff member informed me that they closed at 10 PM, but if we were on our way for a dine-in meal, they would stay open for us (it was already 9:45 PM). We rushed over, and they quickly pushed two tables together for us. Everything was excellent! Even at that late hour, the food was well-prepared, and everyone enjoyed their meals. The total bill for the eight of us came to $200, which is a bit on the pricier side, but the quality of the food makes it worth it.

RIP El Tipeco! I have been going here for the last 30 years! My parents went here before then. They actually saw John Travolta here once. So many dinners with friends here. All who love this place now. Met my boyfriend here on our first date. Your salsa was the bomb and your chili rellenos was to die for. Thank you for always taking good care of us, Joel! Please consider reopening. This place will always have a special place in my heart. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Terrible service, horrible food there was even a hair in my margarita). Fried calamari was dried, rubbery and very oily. We waited for more than 40 minutes and our food still wasn't served. Never coming back here
