Despite booking in advance, upon arrival we were told there was no pork or chicken roasts available, and they had run out of roast potatoes. We were offered beef roast dinners with chips. This could have all been forgiven if the veg wasn’t all overpowered with star anise and pepper! Our waitress- Deanna checked in on how the food was just seconds after we’d started to eat. A few mouthfuls in a hair was found in one of the dinners, our waitress had disappeared at this point, the barman was occupied talking to a regular and who we now know to be the manager was sat with her back to the pub on her laptop. 35 minutes passed and our dirty plates were still sat in front of us, I went to the bar to...
This was my first visit to the restaurant after it was renovated. The new look is beautiful. However, I was very disappointed with the menu options for plant-based (PB) guests. They no longer had the Moving Mountains burger, so I had to settle for a noodle dish which was not great. My friend had to order three starters as her main dish because of the lack of options. I hope they bring back the PB burger. Additionally, I did not agree with the service charge added to the bill.
This was our first visit to the restaurant since it was renovated. We loved the new changes and the atmosphere was fantastic. We had dinner and the food was top-notch - every dish was perfect. The Korean chicken and gammon were particularly outstanding. Our waitress, a young northern girl with blonde hair, was exceptional - friendly, polite, and attentive without being overbearing. We will definitely be returning.
The food was fantastic, the staff were great, and the atmosphere was brilliant. I would happily recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great experience.
