Date: December 4, 2021 Would I recommend it? Yes. This charming little spot offers a cozy seating area and a fantastic selection of empanadas that showcase local flavors. I tried both of their vegan options: the yellow curry and the Impossible. Each comes with dipping sauces—hot sauce and chimichurri for the vegan versions. I enjoyed the Impossible empanada more than the curry. While the crust was on the softer side and not very flaky, the Impossible filling had a rich flavor, although it might be a bit salty for some. The yellow curry was actually quite delicious and would pair beautifully with a bowl of rice. If I’m in the area shopping, I would definitely swing by for a quick snack.
This cozy little spot has a warm and inviting atmosphere. I really enjoyed the lunch special—it was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly portioned. The Spinach and Artichoke empanada was absolutely delicious, and the salad was bursting with flavors! I just loved it. The tomato soup was rich and had great texture; it quickly became another favorite of mine. The Bananas Foster dessert empanada was a delightful surprise, and I genuinely loved it. Plus, I thought it was a neat touch to have stamps on each empanada indicating their fillings!
It's the New Year, and I'm finally exploring something new! I sampled three different fillings, all of which were excellent. The "hangry" portion was just the right size for dinner. My only suggestion would be to wrap the edges in foil like a pie crust to prevent them from getting overcooked. Two of the edges were a bit tough to bite into without squeezing the filling out, but one was spot on. I will definitely be trying Empanola again to explore more flavors!
First off the staff was so nice. Second, my wife and I travel the country searching for empanadas..Southern California has some good ones. Believe it or not there's good empanadas in Indianapolis too. But the empanadas and the selection of different empanadas here at Empanola may be the best on this side of the Mississippi! I had the Chilean Beef and the Peruvian Chicken empanadas, along with a house salad and a Topo Chico, all for under $20! Salad was super fresh and very tasty. The Chilean Beef was SOOOO GOOD! The chicken was good also but the beef was definitely my favorite. I will definitely be going back there. The sooner the better
This restaurant is ideally located for those shopping on Magazine Street. The empanadas are excellent—not greasy or overly heavy—and they offer some unique options. The place is clean and has plenty of seating. Definitely a must-try!
When someone said best food they’ve had in NOLA, they weren’t kidding!! We wanted something quick for our group of 8 girls. We weren’t expecting much but were blown away by the service and food. Definitely recommend
Great empanadas. So Many varieties to choose from, classic to NO centric to very different. They are baked not fried which adds an interesting twist. Only tasted one but will definitely be back for more. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
