I want to first say that our waitress was very nice. The food however left quite a lot to be desired considering the price points. My grandmother ordered the burrata salad with grilled chicken and I ordered the $22 pappardelle dish with no protein. The pasta was barely al dente and was VERY bland as if no seasoning or salt was used at all. It was barely warm and looked asif it had been sitting around for a while. I mentioned it to our waitress and she apologized and said it was the fourth timethat night it was being returned. The menu is excellent, the atmosphere is delightful, and the service is satisfactory... but Katie, the manager, is truly exceptional! She exceeded our expectations tonight. We discovered the restaurant by chance while staying at the hotel, but we will definitely come back even when we are not guests at the Exeter Inn. Katie warmly welcomed us, ensured our experience was enjoyable, and even assisted with a personal matter. We are grateful for this level of customer care. Thank you.
Cons: The service was terrible at the bar on a Friday night, with long waits and uninterested bartenders.
Update: Went back on a Wednesday night and the bartender was still terrible, with attitude and rudeness.
Update: Wow! What a difference! New bartender Krista is a rockstar! Great service, great drinks, and amazing atmosphere! Our family had an incredible experience and will definitely be back! Thank you Krista!
We live right down the street and look forward to anytime we are able to stop in for dinner, drinks, brunch or even a movie on the lawn (we saw Hocus Pocus this past fall and it was such a fun date night! This is one of our favorite spots in town, and it's not just because we're practically neighbors. So lucky to have this great spot in town cannot recommend it enough!

Noise was terrible- much too loud! Dinner was cold, my husband had to wait for his dinner which was not delivered and he had to wait to learn that he would not get what he ordered. Never checked on us. We were extremely disappointed. After hearing about this restaurant on Phantom Gourmet, we were looking forward to dine there. We will not be back.
Big fan of Epoch. Blue Moon and Otis are the gold standards for Exeter but if you want a tasty meal any night of the week, lots of options, a lengthy selection of New England beers, plus a high end relaxed vibe, then look no further than Epoch in Exeter. PS their cookies at the front desk are pretty darn good.
Great meals..pancakes, omelettes, crab cake sandwich..all good. pancakes came without any garnish except syrup and could have used fruit or at least butter. Service was attentive yet leisurely. Saw some nice looking specialty cocktails but we didn't try any. Great atmosphere in a historic inn.
For anyone traveling to New England, it is worth visiting the little town of Exeter and stop by Epoch Restaurant. I tried the Fried Green Tomatoes and Short Rib Cavetelli, ending with the Apple Cobler. Great atmosphere, great food, great service.

I went to the restaurant for Easter Brunch and it was delicious with lots of options! We have also hosted several family events there and they have all been wonderful in terms of staff, food, and overall event experience. I love the Inn!
Everything was just so-so. Not overly impressed but can't say it was really bad, either. They used to have a more creative menu. Staff was friendly but unorganized on a busy friday evening.
