One of the telltales we use for determining a good restaurant is seeing if the locals like it, and the locals love this place. We saw several tables of tourists and lots of locals enjoying the fare here. It is the one most recommended in the area. Just a simple, down-home style restaurant, no frills. Basic, good food, and friendly local staff. They used to not serve fries here but the special this time was chicken club sandwich with fries. The soup special was corn chowder and was very good. They also serve great seafood chowder, and even hotdogs! I haven't seen too many local restaurants serve hotdogs, but apparently it's one of their specialties and they have various kinds.
I was on my way to New Minas when I decided to stop at this place for lunch. I've been in that area before but never stopped here. The place was jam pack (comme dirait les acadiens) and the people were waiting. I had a table for one and sat. The service was impeccable. The location is easy to find. The place was cleaned and welcoming. The menu provides all kind of homemade food. I order d haddock chowder with some cone and other biscuits. I also ordered a homemade dessert. Man it was good. This nos a place to absolutely stop and try their food. It's a must in grand pre!G
I saw this place on Trip Advisor and it was mentioned by our Wine Bus Tour Guide so I thought I would check it out. Supposedly it had the BEST pies.I was really looking forward to a piece of Blueberry Pie. I ended up being severely disappointed. The pie had WAY too much sugar. When eating it there was so much sugar that you could still taste the grains of sugar and almost none of the blueberry. The only reason I am giving this place a higher review is because the Strawberry-Rhubarb pie was VERY good. Slightly expensive though.
My husband and myself along with my parents stopped for dinner. I had the beans and wieners which were lovely and the fish cakes as well which were good. Hubby had club sandwich and said it was good. Parents had seafood chowder which they said was very good with lots of seafood and the scones were delicious. Service was good except for the leaking roof!! Waitress was friendly. The prices are reasonable as well. I think this place would be super nice on a sunny day! Would definitely return.
The café is ideally located on the grounds of the Evangeline Motel which makes it convenient for the weary traveler. The staff is cheerful, engaged and focused on service. The menu, while not extensive, offers something for everyone. The dishes we recommend ... the chicken quesadilla, surf and turn burger ... in fact any of the burgers. It's good basic traveler fare. It's quick. It let's you get back to your room and into bed in a hurry. We recommend this restaurant.
We stopped there for an early supper and were not disappointed. The inside has a nice little diner feel and there were a lot of options on the menu without being overwhelming. My husband has allergies and the staff were very helpful with helping us navigate which items would have come into contact with the foods he is allergic too and which would not have. We also had dessert and it was very delicious!
We always stop on the way to Berwick Camp. The seafood chowder now comes only in a bowl. The fish chowder comes in a cup or a bowl. I had the classic hamburger and enjoyed every bite. She had the club sandwich and it disappeared. For dessert: chocolate pie for me and butterscotch for her. What a great meal and location over many years.
Been here many times and always loved it but disappointed this time. Had the chicken salad sandwich ...could hardly see the chicken ...just lettuce and tons of mayo...on store bought bread.....My husbands club was just as bad.
We happened to find this resaurant, and ended up have a nice meal and good experience. It's family run, and we felt well cared for. Good, basic food at a reasonable price.
