To make a living as a restauranteur on the seafront ofRoquebrune/Menton is quite a challenge. The summer seasonis short & the competition is strong. How to price your menu, howto offer something different - how to make your clients dream!Here there is a beachfront annexe which can be the beginning of adream - perhaps a calm moonlit evening - but what is the food going to be like - here is the eternal problem. Good food needs a good chef, who is not cheap & may leave , so a medium chef means medium food. And you may dream of a moonlight serenadefrom the sea view but here you will not dream over the food.
We had friends over from England for the weekend, and we thought that it would be nice to take them for a meal by the sea.I was disgusted by the sevice,the attitude of the staff.We were waiting for over an hour for our food, and when it came it was cold and dry. I orderd salmon which was like cardboard,my friend orderd the moules and when they came were without the frites. The food was expensive and very poor quality. We have lived in Menton for 14 years and this is the worst food in that time.When we complained we were shrugged off without an apology.The whole experience was rubbish.
This restaurant is well situated with a terrace overlooking the water but that's all it has going for it. They are extremely understaffed and service is extremely slow. I ordered the fish of the day which I had to return because it was so boney it was not eatable . I was then brought a salmon filet that I suspect was previously frozen and over cooked with absolutely no taste. I did not eat it but they charged for it nonetheless. Perhaps pizza is a better choice. There are many better choices especially in Menton close by.
We arrived first night tired and with many restaurants shut on a Monday chose here. What a wonderful surprise. Very friendly service with a view over the beach and sea. The food was excellent. We both had fish Sea Bass and Dorade and it was cooked perfectly. Couldn't fault the place and we think out of 4 restaurants (Le Inquisiteur, Fellini, VII) this was the best. We went for lunch before catching the train to Nice home and were not disappointed.

Like many tourist cafés this is no exception - you will getsea views ( which is already a start ) but no exciting discovery food wise to excite your companion - there is a terrace next to the beach& be happy with that ! The waiter is a charming person - alreadya positive.
We visited this restaurant some 3 years ago and had great memories of it. We wanted to come back. And we did come back but it was not that good anymore. The place is in need of renovation and the food was not tasty. We will not go back.
The food is simple but tasty. The staff do not speak very good English, but that really adds to the charm and I got to practice my school boy French.
good location, bad service.bad food will ruin your day. never go there you will taste the French frustrated way of treating a client

A little more expensive than I expected. Oldfasioned scennery, but very fast sevice and experienced with tourists
Underwhelming food says it all, there's really nothing else to add for this less than average place.
