edit OK so this is a year gone by and i have to say there are some positive changes. The bathrooms are now locked. While asking to be let in is not so nice, the bathroom has never looked cleaner as the lack of junkie vomit and balance addled pee puddles are a.nice touch. While having to ask for a napkin is not so nice at least they have some since they are not being stolen by a junkie or crackhead. The coffe is still great. The demeaner of the staff seems to be getting better and the relief girl is a real diamond in the rough. Kathy is her name and her smile brightens even the dingiest wallpaper or outdated menu pictures. I actually saw a guy sleeping there get kicked out by the police!! Yes...
So..I haven't been to this place since it opened in the early 80s. It was a busy place back then...always a line up. Over the years it has changed hands and become a hang out for junkies. So my wife I tried it to see how it actually is. We both had breakfast. My coffee was good and cheap, same for my wife's hot chocolate, very rich which was nice. The breakfast was inexpensive at $6. Was served on Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils...not a big deal..I get why based on some clientel. I probably wouldn't order the breakfast again..it was ok at best. Frankly an incredible place to come and get food from. They serve cafe style food along with a variety of different baked goodies and other quick eats (I recommend the poutine). The owners of the restaurant have shown great resilience and kindness when serving and attending customers such as myself. The food is amazing and I would 100% come back here to eat here again for the great service and the food. It does not deserve the low reviews that people here are giving. It definitely is a place to come try out when you visit Welland!
Same decor since it opened in 1982. Not kidding. Personally, I don't mind this place. I only stop here for coffee before catching a bus. Never had a problem with wait times or quality, never missed my connection on the bus. I wish they took debit as sometimes I don't have cash in hand. This place has had new management in the past few years. Gross. Horrible. Needs health inspection so it can close down. Did not get a coffee there after I watched the person working drop a bagel on the ground, pick it up, toast it, butter it, and serve it to a woman who was talking to someone not paying attention. I told the woman what just happened and left immediately.
It's a hole in the ground where people old people scratch their bingo tickets so if you're lonely and you want someone to scratch your bingo tickets that's where you should go
I don't remember the place but I'm sure it was fantastic and if I was there I left My mark
