Sunday lunch here was insanely good, by far the best pub food I've had in years. Very good service too, attentive where needed but not over the top. *edit we've been back since and it was just as good : I've also seen reviews that say the building is fully wheelchair accessible, this is not strictly true, there is a tight turn and a step down through the front door but if you can't manage this they will open the extra bit on the conservatory door at the back for you no problem, this way in is fully level. I had a delightful lunch at this restaurant. The food was exceptional, earning a solid 5 out of 5 for its quality and flavor. The service was good as well, though I would rate it a 4 out of 5—it was attentive and friendly, but there’s a bit of room for improvement. The atmosphere was fantastic, creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment that also deserves a 5 out of 5. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience!
I was very disappointed with my experience. I chose this restaurant based on the reviews and photos of the food, but I’m not sure how they got such high ratings. When I arrived, I was informed that they were out of lager. I asked if they were serving roast dinners, only to find out they weren't. The menu featured just a variety of pies and ice cream—nothing else. While the pies were decent, the overall experience did not live up to the glowing reviews and pictures I had seen. I’m not sure if the place is under new management or what might be going on.
The food here is amazing. 1st look at menu makes you wonder as not traditional pub grub. I had the butternut squash and the flavours where fantastic my partner had the pasta ragu and that to was amazing. Desert was sticky toffee pudding and milk pudding with rhubarb. The whole meal and atmosphere was very good and again complements to the chef for a wonderful menu. And very good service form the serving team. Will visit again. Meal type: Dinner

Very oily fish dish for main course. Unnecessary amount of oil along with pesto on my main course made it very inedible especially when there’s mashed potato on it too. Cauliflower cheese on my friends very skimpy meat roast dinners had seen better days. We have been coming to the Packet Inn for years and this has been the worst food I’ve eaten there. This was the best roast I’ve ever had! Everything about the meal was flawless. We even showed up without a reservation, and they quickly accommodated us. I wish I could give this place more stars. Thank you!
