we visited the farmstead table on Sunday night, and overall it was a nice experience. the food was delicious, and it was a beautiful, modern room. However, the service was quite slow and went for long stretching without checking in, despite empty jars and clean plates. the menu is somewhat limited, and they were from one of the main dishes. the popovers were delicious, like the burrata and the steak. the dessert for the day was crème brûlée, which was also very good.
farmstead table has been on my list for some time, so I was happy to be alive and I made it last week. the inner is simply charming: dark woody, bright red chairs and etsy-esque accessories. the restaurant is small, so if you want a place, make sure they come early. it was packed in the midday when we were gone and I read that brunch can get a little crazy.
The food was decent but unremarkable, the service was fine but not outstanding. The restaurant was not crowded, but we felt cramped among the other patrons. Overall, it's a decent place to visit, but I wouldn't make a special trip back.

Great upscale casual place. Attentive waitstaff. Food was creative, good sized portions and delicious. Disappointed that they were out of 2 main dishes by 7p on Saturday. Go early!
06/28/16 farmstead table in newton is located in the bustling union street and they are, as the name suggests, to use local meat and products.
Booking a table was a breeze. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The food was superb. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate.
