We had a meal at the Fat Badger 3rd January (we were in Harrogate for a few days from Norfolk). The food was okay, nothing to write home about. The main disappointment was the service. It 's hard to comment on the atmosphere as there were only 3 tables being occupied and one was ours. We had a table booked for 7.30, we were a little early and we were rushed through to our table without being offered a drink. When someone came to take our order, we had to ask for a drink and that arrived after our starter. There was no welcome or chat with the waiter, no ambiance at all. We were by finished by 8.30 and quite honestly glad to leave. Was it to near to The New Year that staff had just turned off...
The restaurant was quite disappointing. We ordered the chateaubriand with chips, coleslaw, and peppercorn sauce. The steak was fresh but lacked flavor and was poorly cooked. The frozen chips were very basic. The peppercorn sauce was thin and bland. The coleslaw was average, as was the Greek salad. Overall, we won't be returning for the food. It seemed very basic and I question whether they even taste the dishes before serving them. The staff were friendly but lacked experience. They were not accommodating to children, as the kitchen refused to make a simple mashed potato for our baby. In comparison, Threes a Crowd in Harrogate offers much better food, including a properly prepared chateaubri...
Fell below expectations after having a great experience at the York Branch. Starters of duck as well as the vegan tacos was nice. The Chateaubriand simply had little flavour. Peppercorn sauce also lacked flavour and was far to runny. Side order of peas were average at best. The mushroom was very nice, as we're the chunky chips. However the deserts were excellent. Service by the young man was attentive and helped make up for the meal falling below my expectations.
We had a beef and pork dinner, plenty of meat and just the right amount of veg. Huge Yorkshire pudding were a credit to the chef! Our food was piping hot and service was good.

Love going to The Fat Badger for Sunday lunch. Service and staff were first class felt a little disappointed with the serving of vegetables for 2 people was less than usual.
We visited the bar during our stay at the hotel. Lovely pub. Plenty of seating, great decor and buzzing atmosphere. Great find.
There is a great ambience in The Fat Badger with great service and fantastic food. Will definately be visiting again.
The atmosphere was ace and the architecture was top notch. Nice pint too.
