Freo is such a hard place to decide where to eat. EVERYONE has their favorites and are only too willing to tell you.I, on the otherhand like to go bt the mood of the day. So when we found ourselves outside the Federal hotel and it was offering a $15 Parma, there was little to think about.The Federal is an old pub that's had a breath of fresh air thru it. We chose to sit in the back room on a comfy couch. Not many people there on a Monday so we had plenty of choice. Placed our lunch orders and drinks, a Coopers for me and a lemon for the lad(12yo) Had hardly started our drinks when our meals arrived. A good sized piece of chicken in herbed breadcrumbs, tomato sauce, fresh tomato, ham and melt...
Called into the Federal Hotel for lunch when I saw that they had two for one lunchtime meals on Tuesdays. Had the glazed pork spare ribs.When the waitress brought the meal I was impressed with the presentation of the ribs.The ribs were delicious and finger licking good. We also had a pint of beer each and ordered the desert which was sticky date pudding.The pudding was the best that I have ever eaten.A gentleman and his wife sitting near me asked what the date pudding was like and I had to tell him that it was to die for.
I enjoyed my lunch at the Federal Hotel. We had the fish and chips special ($15) and a burger with chips. The food was hot and fresh, well-cooked and served all together (which makes a pleasant change from our last meal) Staff are friendly and welcoming, the surroundings were clean and tidy, as were the facilities, and we could watch the football if we wanted to.Bear in mind it's a pub, but it's a very nice one in the heart of Fremantle. I can recommend it for a casual afternoon or evening out.
We lived the beef ribs and have eaten on numerous Wednesday evenings but the new lamb ribs were great. Beautifully presented and great taste. More fatty than the beef of course BUT hey fat is now good:-)Wine was nice but they have removed the wine with the ribs so although well priced liked the special before.Nice friendly staff and quick service.I love the fed and wonder why it has not caught the general public since opening? Need to advertise more?

Excellent value. Definitely pub food. If you want a restaurant experience try somewhere else, you order at the bar, seat yourselves etc. That said, the food was good and service prompt. $15 for fish chips and salad can be beat. Only down side: the music was terrible. Suggest something more ambient.We'll go again.
Hope you're not hungry! Lunch order was 4 Federal pies @$24.00 each It took over 45mins. And forget having a coffee They don't do coffee I go to a lot of pubs and every one that I have been to serve coffee Re-think going to Federal in Freo If you want coffee or meal
Have had dinner and dessert here, very pleasantly surprised. Food was very good, they also have good specials during the week. Very good value pub food. Will definitely visit again.

Aweomse staff and great selection of beers as well. Very relaxing pub with lovely beer garden. very roomy, and very spacious. Loved the atmosphere.
Booked ahead, staff very friendly food was good and plentiful. Great atmosphere plenty room to move and relax. Offers inside or outside dining.
