Tldr; I would not go again as my cat at home is more loving than this would rather spend the money buying him treats . If you don’t have a cat at home and/or WANT a nice beverage with window watching some cats or sitting in the room with cats then I’d say to give it a go. I just hope the cats aren’t being negatively impacted by the foot traffic.We went to this cafe for the first time and from the booking to the fee and the explanation, I’m sad to say it was greatly underwhelming. I enjoyed the company of well-behaved kittens in the Feline Cafe.This is my first cat cafe trip in a while. In order to make a visit, you'll need to book a 45-minute time slot at the top of each hour (the remaining 15 minutes are for the cats to rest). The time we booked was for 1 pm. One ticket was $18.08, taxes included.When we arrived, we had to take our boots off so as to avoid any salts from harming the cats. The cafe is divided into two parts: the cafe portion where you enter, and the room with the cats that you enter through the cafe.There were a total of 7 cats when we visited; I don't think any of them were over a year old. I am absolutely devastated. I lost my cat after almost having him for 20 years. I did not think of getting another cat after this but fell in love with two cats- gin and tonic. They were a similar breed to my previous cats who were both brothers with similar personalities. When I called about the adoption process they told me the price to adopt them both. Since I wasn't looking for cats at that time I needed a few days to move around some funds but let them know how very much I was interested in adopting them. An email was sent to me saying they were in the process of reviewing the application- but my references weren't contacted. I wasn't contacted. I was just declined. I have two cat posts...
I went to the café this Fall to purchase a mug. When I entered, the clerk asked if I had a mask and I didn't. (Retail businesses in Ottawa no longer require masks. She then asked if I wanted to purchase a mask. I replied that I didn't want one, that I wasn't going to see the cats, but just wanted to purchase the mug I was already holding in my hands. She said if I didn't want to follow their rules I would have to leave. (She was willing to ring up the mask, but not the mug... I replied that leaving was EXACTLY what I was going to do. We showed up way too early for our reservation so they offered us the included beverage before hand, which was kind. We were able to escape the cold and watch the cats through the windows from the cafe to the cat lounge.The drinks were delicious and the staff were super friendly. The visit with the cats was so relaxing and enjoyable. It was pretty late in the day so they were sooooo lazy, but it was nice to just sit and chat in their presence and give the occasional chin scratches.The folks at the cafe are doing great work taking care of these cats until they find their forever homes.The selection of food and gift items at the cafe is also great. You don't have to be a cat lover to like the Feline Café in this old Ottawa neighbourhood. All you need is to appreciate the passion of the ppl who operate this uniquely community and volunteer based shop. If you so desire, you may book an appointment to play with the cats in another room (and to possibly request to adopt one only if you want to). Otherwise, you may just enjoy a freshly brewed cup of tea, an oat meal chai, cappuccino, and other drinks and goodies on their menu. And there are other neat handcrafts and stuff to browse in the shop too. Highly recommended !!!
Lovely cat cafe with cats up for adoptionThey limit the amount of people so sometimes you won't be able to come in if there are too many already. Call in advance and reserve if you want to be guaranteed you get some time with the cats.The cats were so cute. Some were shy but warmed up to us after a while.The cafe/shop area is cute too with lots of cat related goods.I especially like the showcase of all the previous cats adopted through this place with each one’s name.The person at the counter was friendly and explained everything very well.
Wow what a great place! We are from out of town and knew ottawa has a soft spot for cats so this place was no surprise. It is in a cute area with so many animal friendly people... amazing selection of cat related pieces and art and a great offering of Vegan items. Beautifully hand crafted drinks and the best staff... so friendly and caring of the cats. My daughter, who fosters cats, and I dropped in for a drink and to see the cats. This is a great social enterprise that leaves you with the feeling you have helped make the world a better place. Drinks were good. Picked up stickers and pins. Staff was friendly and dedicated to the cause.
