When visitors want to relive the life of the Alsatian cattle herders who took the cows up into the mountains to graze during the summer months, they travel into the Vosges to eat a repas marcaire, a traditional farm-style dinner. We were participating in a reunionen in Alsace and the hosts had arranged for us all to visit the Auberge du Treh to taste a typical lunch. Although it took a while for the bus to get us up the mountain to the inn it was absolutely worth it. The place is so authentic. It is way up a mountain about 1100 meters above sea level. The owners were extremely friendly and the service really good. Best of all was the food. It was just so tasty and there was so much of it. De passage sur la route des Crêtes nous avons fait une halte à la ferme du Markstein.Le beau temps étant de la partie nous avons mangé en terrasse, l'hôtesse était charmante et souriante. Nous avons découvert les fameux fleischnakas dans le cadre du menu montagne copieux. Bon rapport qualité prix.

They only had one main course menu but the taste and value was good. Plenty of deserts! The view from the terrace is amazing
