It saddens me that duck in the UK does not taste of duck, but of some bland taste-free meat. This is because in the UK, cost and profit rules, whereas in France care and diet in the elevage are given proper consideration. One of the...reasons we moved to France....better food quality! We eat in restaurants frequently...yet this is the first time we have experienced knife rests. These are duck shaped. So are the napkin rings. If you use the loo, marvel at the number of duck themed objects you see. A bit over the top, but the point is, attention to detail. This is reflected in the cuisine, which is superb, nicely presented and copious. Sadly I inderstand they close this weekend, for the winter...
I know I review La Cave every year but that is simply because we go there every year when we are in the Gers. It is fantastic value and the food is beautiful and the whole place is family run. This is real French Cooking at its best. The 38 Euro menu includes aperitifs all the wine and Armagnac and would not be available in the UK, if it was it would cost a fortune. The duo of fois gras is exceptional and my favorite thing to eat, I have never had anything that comes close. You do need to like duck, it is a Ferm Auberge and that is all they do, we call it the Duck, duck, duck and duck and that says it all. Cant wait until I go back next year.

We love this restaurant, in our family it is affectionately known as the Duck, duck duck and duck. We have been coming here for years and today's meal was as fantastic as ever. The menu includes hors d'oeuvres, an appertifs and a further three...courses including a foie gras starter and fantastic main. Friendly family service, a great lunch. Suite au reportage TV, nous sommes allés manger à La Cave et avons pris le menu à 28 euros . On s'attendait à mieux : du réchauffé , du congelé , aucune finesse ni saveur. On aurait préféré manger moins mais bon . Très grosse déception , ne mérite pas le détour.Le rapport qualité / prix est très mauvais
We've loved the Auberge for many years locally always known as Tomasella's but they have now decided only to open for group bookings of or more. If you can get that many together, do go it's a wonderful place, though you...all need to like duck...
Jamais déçus par la qualité des produits. Heureusement l'activité repart, on va se lécher les babines avec la soirée carcasses le 1er Juillet, inimitable ! Ceux qui parlent de surgelés dans les commentaires ne méritent pas d'y déjeuner .
