Tucked in a small unassuming plaza, I finally found myself in this delightful small grocery store with a typically small dining area. It's cafeteria style so order, grab a seat (which can be difficult as busy during meal times) and pick up and pay when your name/order is called out. Nice hot, flavourful food freshly prepared like pizzas, souvlaki, lentil soups, wraps, Greek salad, baklava, focaccia bread, etc. Portions are big, service is warm and friendly. Even a barista there to make your coffee your way. There is also take-out and they cater too. Daily specials run about $11.50. Feels family-run. My kids especially enjoyed the Turkish Delight for sale. This place is good bang for your buc...
While they don't have that much in terms of full meals in their deli, they do have a great selection of salads, mediterranean dips, and sandwiches, as well as a terrific bakery. Our favourites are the Baba Ghanoush which has the most wonderful smoky flavour and perfect texture. How do they get the eggplant to taste like that? We also love their beet salad with walnuts. Oh....and go to their bakery section and get some Turkish Delight....either with walnuts or pistachios (our favourite). And they have lots of grocery items too. Friendly folks run it....and prices are generally reasonable (although the Greek Salad is a bit pricey, and its not one of their best dishes).
This deli is a place for a quick meal at a decent price. You order, pick up your food, and eat at the tables provided. We had pizzas, hummus and pita, and roasted lamb. All food went down very easily. We loved the lamb, which was cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the artichoke and olive pizza. Everything was tasty. There were a number of different options to choose from. It seems a popular place for university students. The hours are limited and the location closes by 5. It is only open during the week so check your time before heading out.
Fig Deli is indeed a hidden gem. All takeout items were delicious and creatively put together. The Baba Ghanoush really is out of this world! Service was quick and friendly, and large paper bags are free! YAY!! For people tired of callous customer treatment a Chiarelli's, this place is a superior alternative. I have been making delicious Spanakopita for years, and have sampled a few across town. Bypass Thrifty's. If you want the best come to Fig. Loaded with spinach and feta, plus a bit of something deliciously tart, with filo crispy and buttery all the way through. Mmmm. I ate two today. So good. They have tons of grocery options as well. Everything is very reasonably priced too.
I depend on the Fig for all my pantry culinary needs...and some salads and lunches too! Great food. Great prices. My mother often visits for her stay at home meals . Friends of mine go there before dance class or for a friendly visit. It is a very welcoming place with great staff.
Fig is a wonderful Middle-eastern deli with lots of European food items on its' shelves as well. Take-out food was excellent. Locals are hoping that in-restaurant eating area might resume now after Covid, but nice tables are available outside

This is the best place to go to! Me and my friends absolutely adored the food. Especially this breakfast pizza called a manoushi. Delicious. Will be going back
