Very comfortable dining. I ordered the Linguine Cardinale and almost shared it with the table next to me. Very pleasant atmosphere, waiters keep drinks full and are very patient with indecisiveness. In my opinion, the lobster was too firm for a creamy pasta dish. Although, I do not eat seafood, and have never had lobster . Also the risotto was quite dry and the stewed lamb was not special. Nonetheless, I got free tomato bread to-go and the desserts were amazing, specifically the Strawberry Cheesecake and Tiramisu (on good days, when the espresso is bitter . I recently dined at Filomena in Washington, D.C., and overall, it was an enjoyable experience. The appetizers were impressive, especially the calamari, which was fresh and perfectly cooked. The other appetizers were also solid choices. For the main course, everything was well-prepared and flavorful, though the dishes felt a bit heavy overall. We finished our meal with cannoli and tiramisu for dessert. The cannoli stood out as exceptional. The ambiance was lively, though a bit too noisy, and the tables were quite close to each other. After 20 years in DC, my husband surprised me with my first visit to Filomena for my birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience! If you're a fan of Halloween, this Italian gem is a must-visit in October. The festive decorations are pure joy, and watching Nona craft pasta in the front room adds a delightful touch. Each dish we tried was exceptional, perfectly complemented by an impressive wine selection. We can't wait to return—Filomena is now a favorite! Highly recommended!
Filomena is one of those very rare tourist traps that is absolutely worth falling for. It’s a hard place to wrap your head around… playful yet classy, gaudy yet refined. The food is fantastic (particularly their seafood pasta, Sunday sauce, and desserts) and the service is excellent. Yes, it’s often busy and the floor to ceiling decor can make it a little claustrophobic, but we found ourselves planning our next visit before the check was paid.

Brought my mom here after shopping around. She’s already asking when we can go back We sat at the bar because it was Friday evening and every table was taken. I actually prefer bar sitting so it worked out perfectly. The pasta is mind blowing and the sausage appetizer was also really good!!! Bartenders were friendly and prompt. The host also charged my phone when it died. I cannot wait to come back, even hungrier next time haha
This place is fabulous, and this ravioli dish that is pictured I could not stop eating. Highly recommend if you like great food and great service!
