I learned about this place from a local who was on the water taxi. I mentioned we went to a place in fisherman's wharf and he said, try Finest at Sea, it is the best. He wasn't joking. The restaurant is a food truck near the cleanest smelling seafood market I have ever encountered. The restaurant offers a delectable chowder with all kinds of fish. However the most impressive, in my mind, is fish and chips. The serving of the one piece of halibut was huge. The cut of fish was a filet...it was perhaps the thickest filet I have ever seen. The coating on the fish was unique as it contained fresh herbs and black pepper. Every bite is like a flavor explosion. The coating was fried in fresh oil lea...
I went here for a lunch on a Tuesday afternoon.Overall, it was pretty solid. I had a halibut burger and a seafood chowder. While I was waiting for the food, a man walked by out of his way to tell the staff it was the best chowder he had ever had, so it got me excited.The halibut was definitely fresh, but didn't quite have the flavor I wanted. The burger gets you lettuce, tomato, and onion, which I didn't know, and because I don't like tomatoes and pickles, I took them off, which could have impacted the flavor. I think some additional seasoning or more tartar (there was barely any) or onion would have complemented it well.The soup was pretty good too- it was great to have whole pieces of seaf...
Phoned the store Thursday to ask if I could reserve mussels for a special dinner Saturday and pre-pay by card over the phone. The staff assured me it wasn't necessary as there would be so many mussels they would never run short. Arrived Saturday morning (~11am) to find the store was sold out of mussels... minimal insincere apologies from the staff, offering the excuse that the store also supplies restaurants. All previously purchased and prepared dinner ingredients have now gone to waste - a bit late for alternatives! Will not return, poor planning and poor customer service!
This was our first visit, and it will certainly be followed up by many more! My husband and I shared a two piece halibut and chips on a beautiful, sunny afternoon. My husband commented that the chips reminded him of his Mom's, and the sizeable piece of halibut was lightly battered, hot and very fresh.Service was quick and efficient.A squeeze of lemon, a dab of tartar sauce and we're both still talking about it a week later. So disappointed headed to Victoria for a short holiday and on the list was to visit Finest at See for Halibut and chips and oysters...arrived it was closed only to find out I will be back home when they r open..I find it strange that they can email and let you know they have $60 meal events however can not let their customers know that their fish and chip wagon is closed....very disappointed
I mostly shop FaS for their cold smoked tuna but pretty much everything they have is excellent, whether fresh or prepared. Their fish candy is amazing, especially the Sable Fish Candy, which should be illegal it is so good.The Fish and Chips is excellent too. The fries are some of the best in town and are even good reheated the next day.
Great fish truck with delicious fish tacos and a nice seating area. Visited with family and friends and the service was quick, food great, and a nice relaxed outdoor atmosphere. There is shade as well for the table area. Highly recommend this place for lunch!

Every time I crave for seafood, I come here. I get frozen tuna but even far better than the ones from grocery stores.when I had a sushi party, we got salmon and tuna from here, and we made the best sushi!
