The food was decent; the fish and chips were enjoyable. However, the service left much to be desired. The staff seemed inattentive, and we felt overlooked. We might have ordered additional food and drinks if someone had actually approached us. We had to request the lunch menus ourselves (there was no offer for a toddler's meal), ask to order drinks, and even ask for the bill. We eventually stood around in our coats waiting for the card machine while the staff chatted at the bar. They appeared disorganized and lacked direction, especially under a manager who seemed disengaged, glued to his phone and laptop while avoiding eye contact. Used to love this place and visit regularly, but after the remodel our last couple of meals here have been so bad it is almost comical. The service is slow and you're lucky if drinks arrive before food. This time we ordered a large vegetable tempura for starters, but the extra fiver seems to only add a small cup of unseasoned al dente chips to it. I would advise that you don't order sides with the Mac n Cheese, as it turns out it gets mixed into it as we found with our side of broccoli. Dread to think what abomination you get if you order a side of Rumbledthumps with your Mac. Thought I'd give this a second chance but won't be back now. Disappointing experience overall. There was a 45 minute wait for food despite there being only a few other customers. We were not told about the specials available or the promotions that were on at the time. We also had to ask for our bill after waiting quite a while and one drink came in a dirty glass. You could hear staff arguing/ discussing weekend plans from the bar area. The menu was not the same as online. The mac and cheese was advertised as vegetarian yet was served with pancetta and beef fat chips. I added the gochuyang prawns which weren’t worth the extra £4. The truffle fries were also mediocre. Won’t be back.
We had an amazing meal here. Eva gave us a lovely welcome and made sure we were enjoying our delicious food and drinks. Excellent atmosphere. Really friendly staff who were all attentive with amazing personalities. Great service, great food and a lovely setting. Can't ask for more. Highly recommend! "We didn't have any starters. The steak was undercooked, and the arugula looked wilted. The togarashi-seasoned greens tasted unwashed. Overall, it was a disappointing dish. I found the chicken tenders to be quite tough. The so-called truffle oil and parmesan chips were actually just frozen French fries that had been lightly fried, topped with a mystery cheese. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I don’t think I’ll be returning. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
Lunch special on a quiet Wednesday. We came from an instagram post (which we later realised was from the west end location) but the staff accommodated us anyway and served us this incredible steak sandwich lunch special. Thanks team! We will be back
