The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding, making the location ideal. I ordered the Italian dish for my partner, cooked medium, and it was delicious and just the right portion. The New York-style sandwich was incredible and brought back memories of the delis I used to frequent on the East Coast and in the Midwest. The reason I didn't give a full five stars is that I encountered issues with the mobile online ordering; I was able to select everything but couldn't complete the payment online. I ended up having to call the restaurant and pay when I picked up my order.
The food here is excellent, but the service can be slow. During my last visit, I ordered three sandwiches without any modifications, and it took more than 30 minutes to receive them. If you’re not in a hurry, it’s definitely worth the wait. I would recommend ordering ahead, but the sandwiches tend to get unappetizing if they sit for too long. Honestly, if it weren't for their support of firefighters, I might reconsider coming back.
One aspect that could be improved is the sandwich customization process. When I switched my order from a medium to a large size, all my customizations disappeared. I had spent time selecting different cheeses, requesting extra mayo, and adding sautéed peppers and onions while removing raw onions. This is an excellent sub shop! You get generous portions at a great price, and it also supports local firefighters. The sandwiches are amazing—made with toasted bread that is steam-baked, giving you the perfect combination of crispy bread and juicy, melty meat and cheese. They also offer a house-made hot sauce made from datil peppers, which are unique to St. Augustine, Florida.
Food is good but the wait times are crazy long. 30 minutes or more, today was 45 minutes for an online order. I put a stop watch on and at one point there were 10 minutes between completed orders. I saw 5 employees but usually only one or two were preparing food with a store full of customers. I just can't go here anymore with the long waits.
This isn't the Firestone I'm familiar with. The crowd was nice, but the smoky atmosphere at the tables was a bit off; it seemed like the ventilation system wasn't working properly. For the price, I expected much more in terms of quality. I can't recommend this place! Even Subway offers better subs than what I found here!
Great place. You get plenty of food for the price and supports local firefighters. Sandwiches are fantastic. Cheeseed bread and steam, so get the crunchy bread and moist and melting meat and cheese. The food is great, but it takes a while. My last time I ordered 3 sandwiches without changes and over 30 minutes. If you're not in a hurry, it's worth it. I command, but the sandwiches get a little rough after sitting. If they didn't help firefighters, I wouldn't go back.
