The only good thing about this place is the staff, we ordered a MEDIUM Steak and Fish and Chips, the Steak came out RARE and the Fish was Soggy( oil not hot enough).I was about to complain when the girl ask us was the meal okay, which i replied NO the Steak is RARE not Medium, which she agreed with and took it back, when it came back it was still RARE, my partner did not eat it, and the girl said sorry and gave us a voucher for two free drinks. Also we were playing Keno and won a little and went to collect, only to be told the guy turned off the Keno, and this was just 8.15PM, so we had to go back the next day to collect, would not go back or recommend to anyone.
Only a small pub, but what it lacks in size, it certainly makes up for it with everything else. Staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food is always a winner with our family and really affordable. I'm pretty sure the steak sandwich will soon be named after me They even have specials during the week which are cheaper again. We stayed in apartments in the same block and frequented First Ave as it was only a short walk and always enjoyable. We still drive there now we have moved.....it's worth the drive. It's not fancy, just a good solid pub atmosphere and definitely a great place to go if you can't be bothered slaving over a hot stove!
Went 2 nights in a row. First night my steak was very under done but it was rectified immediately. Second night I ate steak again and it was perfect. My partner had the $10 schnitty special and added a $3 topper. For $13 he got a housemade breast schnitzel, loads of chips, good amount of salad and a drink. The tavern is small with not a huge amount of seating. Very friendly staff, well priced drinks and the food is affordable and tasty. Would definitely eat there again.
Our hotel is situated just round the corner and thought we'd pop in for lunch. Staff were very nice. She offered the special on steak too wich we ordered with a beef and ale pie. The pints were good price and size Stella's $7. We played some keno no idea what we were doing. Our food came out looked good very average but $16 for a pie? Really! the food was Luke warm. The ambience is really nice the locals are friendly. Nice

This is a great spot the food is good and at the right price. It has a smoking deck for smokes and it is full of friendly locals. I stayed across the road and found it so handy as not a lot around in walking distance that is value for money. Its a really good sports bar and good for family"s too
A very good place to drop in after work, or for a quick meal or drink. The food is very affordable and appetising. Very good quantity. Very good in taste. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The ambience and comfort is very good. A lovely place to visit. Would recommend.
You cannot serve up a chicken schnitzel nearly the size of the plate, with chips and salad for $10.But the Tavern does! And it provides great beer from the tap, friendly staff, raffles, mid week specials and on it goes.No wonder the locals love it. So do I!
We had a fantastic dinner at this tavern, enjoying cold beer with our meal. The grilled chicken pizza topped with plenty of cheese and the club sandwich with eggs and bacon were both fabulously delicious and well-prepared.

The menu offers standard pub fare. The portions are large and the service was extremely friendly. A nice spot for a relaxing lunch
