My family has eaten here quite a few times over the years both dine-in and now take-away. It always used to be fine. The last time, some of the fish (cod) was WAY undercooked (gross), and they completely forgot one of the dishes in...our take-out order. We called to tell them about the missing clam strips, and they apologized and made a note. So tonight, we decided to take a chance and ordered there, reminding them about the missing dish. When we got our food home, the smallest portions of cod we had ever seen were revealed, NO tartar sauce whatsoever, no sauce for the yam fries. There was something white that I think went with the fried pickles, and seafood sauce that I guess was meant for...
I haven’t been here for several years and tonight while eating part of my meal I remembered why I hadn’t been here for years . We both ordered Halibut and chips with coleslaw,the halibut was the smallest portion of fish I have ever gotten with...a meal ,fries were were definitely reheats and cold and the coleslaw looked like it had been regurgitated . Coffee bitter but at least hot . On a positive note ,the onion rings were good and staff friendly. There are several good places that sell fish and chips in Victoria but this isn’t one of them .
I have been going to Fish on fifth for years. My favourite is their one piece halibut dinner with half fries and half yam fries-lot's of variations to choose from including slaw or salads. Always a good chunk of halibut within a light batter, not...heavy or greasy. Service is always cheery and enthusiastic as well as quick. For good basic fish and chips that is fresh tasting you can't go wrong.
Should have left after being ignored in line for over minutes while they helped takeout orders before us. Waited over minutes for fish and chips and clam chowder. Flavour was weak at best and very greasy. Chowder was watery and tasteless. Only shining...light was the Dole Whip. Much better options available. Bathroom was very dirty as well. Placed a takeout order, and the service on the phone and pickup end was excellent. What is poor was the food. I ordered oysters and my wife had Halibut and Chips. The oysters were deep fried,over cooked and very spicy. The halibut was dry and...the chips were also overlooked and dry. We realize the difficult times, but this food was very poor.
We were in Sidney and happen upon this fish and chip place and so glad we stopped in. The Cod was so fresh and the yam fries awesome. Perfect portions and to top it off we had the Pineapple Ice Cream which was amazing. Totally...recommend this place. The staff were so friendly and the fish fresh. A win win!
Picked up a take out order and right from driving home the smell of the fish in the car was overwhelming.this was halibut and was not fresh fish.Halibut should be white,this fish was grey and tasted awful,needless to say my dinner ended up in the...garbage,will not be going there again.
I've been stopping here for years, time permitting before ferry home. (SSI). Food best eaten at restaurant, but opening up my fish and chips wrapped in paper at the ferry terminal, felt so English traditional. (cod and chips) yum! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
The restaurant was noisy and overly busy. I know COVID exists. THe piece of cod grilled was very small and my pieces of haddock were just acceptable. The chips were cold and soggy. THis is nothing to write home about
