Five Dime is one of my go to places in Evanston. I discovered this gem during the pandemic. They have a beautiful open patio with a bar on the roof, with heat lamps, connecting to the inside area, with doors that can be left open or closed. The menu is excellent with a lot of healthy choices. I love the guacamole and those super crispy chips, which are key! Their salmon with herb butter and haricots hit the spot, too. The ambience, the food service, and the food was great. The place itself is a little hard to locate (based on few people 's experience)but if you see stairs, that 's the restaurant. Recommendation: smoked salmon and shrimp dumplings. They were my favorite!
Horrible service Luis. Ordered dine in, he packed it up for take out, when I told him, he acted like I inconvenienced him said 'it 's still warm ' as if I 'm to be happy to eat it out of Tupperware.

Perhaps not “hidden” but a short walk from the heart of downtown Evanston, this is a lovely spot for an afternoon drink on a well-done rooftop.
good and delicious mexican food. tacos and enchiladas. margaritas were great!!! was a little loud (friday night).
Great roof top and friendly staff. Limited choice but great lulu salad and ribs. Get the butter cake dessert.
