Hubby and I go to Calais quite often and decided to go to Flunch as we had an early train. Even though I speak French it was a bit difficult knowing what there was to buy in the way of food. It's only when you've...been into the in to the interior the system becomes clear. Firstly you queue up and and select your starter and drink on a tray. There are adverts for food on the screens above. You also choose your food and request your order. Then the person at the till gives you a piece of paper. You then go into the restaurant (which is really big). You then queue up again to get what you ordered. Some of the food like the salad is a buffet style, as are the sides to go with hot meals. This Restaurant is inside a Mall. It is part of a large french chain and serves good value food. Being next to the Eurotunnel Terminal, you would expect them to be more international but true to French culture, there is hardly any English speaking staff...and or translations on the menus. Again nobody bothered to do a little market research to find out that there are in fact many vegetarians in the UK (traveling abroad) so the vegetarian menu is absolutely bismal. Came here on a school trip was told it was “good value” oh but I did not realise what I was actually in for. If I had known what this place “serves” i would probably not have come to Paris. After looking at the menu...for something edible I spot the tagliatelle, thinking that it couldn’t harm me. But after ordering from the photo I soon witness CDC hazard that was put before me. There was a brown film over the top of my pasta, stone cold and tasted of gone off yoghurt .After having to microwave my pasta I decided that if this kills me i should write a record of it so my friends and family can be warned. I now feel very ill and think that I will probably be sick Macaroons were nice tho x
We where often eating in this place,,but now arround july,,the food is not annymore OK.The steak was hard and had a strange smell,the fish that my husband orderd was not fresh,,bad smell,the French frites where nearly cold,when I went for asking others I had...to wait minutes.I left everything on my dish ,,and when I came back home I was eating some bagette and camembert
We often eat here on our way in France, the food is very average, but good value, with plenty of choice. We have found it depends on the time of day you visit, on our last visit at one Saturday, it was very quiet,...and there was hardly any choice of Veg and chips, on the help yourself counter, but at other times it is good.
This has got to be our trip to flunch. It is the best place to go for lunch or dinner. The food is supeb and cooked freshly right in front of you. There is always lots of fresh veg and potatoes to choose from...too. I tell all my friends about this restaurant and cannot recommend it highly enough.
Wonderful choice of both starters and puddings which you may choose from the display. Mains are freshly cooked and come with a very large selection of vegtables. Good selection of well priced wines and beer. Very child friendly even with a dance floor for the...tiny fee You!
I have always loved Flunch, and always looked for them when in France, but the last time we used one, in Poitiers, they had change the menu. Now it's all burgers or pizza. What a shame, although I must say it was packed, it's not...the same for me.
Visited at o clock in the afternoon. Wanted of the same fish dish but there was only one. Food arrived lukewarm. Not appetizing at all. Staff were indifferent. Won't be visiting this chain again
