Had dinner with a friend for the first time at Fonda in Chadstone Shopping Centre.I like the queuing system for the tables given that you'll be given a SMS when a table is ready rather than getting you (the guests) to wait in a long queue like other restaurants.Had the chicken taco and the beef taco. From the UK I have had quite a few burritos from many established restaurants (barburrito chipotle wakaka etc). Tried this Mexican place out in chadstone mall with friends. My friends ordered tacos and a salad and I had fish burrito. Tacos were of good standard. But I will concentrate on the burrito. When it came it was cool to touch not warm. The tortilla was really tough and chewy like it wasn't warmed up properly. The fish was battered which was not indicated on menu. The black beans were very few and far between. After watching a movie in Chadstone (X-screen)we were looking for a quick meal. The queue at the New Shanghai Dumpling was way too long (About 13:10) even though it appeared that there were substantial vacant tables inside. We watched the queue for a minute or two but it wasn't moving!. So we decided to go to Fonda next door instead. Been meaning to eat at Fonda for a while now and happened to walk past it at lunch time in Chadstone mall. With the baby sleeping, we decided to stop for lunch and very glad we did. I had the vegetarian burrito and my husband had a taco. The presentation of food was good and taste was amazing. Will definitely be eating there again. Liked the ambience of the restaurant as well :-).

I had mixed green ensalada with fish and it was really delicious. My dining partners enjoyed ensaladas also. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The one thing that I didn't like was the music - way too loud and it was some sort of rap. This is a pet hate of mine in a lot of places. I would definitely revisit for the food and staff if they turn down and change the music vibe.
Service was friendly and attentive. Fresh avocado dip was really nice being made from real avocados. Very limited menu. No nachos! Tacos were small for $6/$7. Overall maybe a good place for chips and dip and a drink before a movie. It wouldn't be my first choice for Mexican dinner with other options in the centre offering a wider variety menu. Overall food was fresh and tasty.
A quick scrumptious dinner before the movies and sensitive staff who took every step to ensure that my partner who is coeliac was catered for. The kitchen prepared her meal in separate pans using separate utensils and served her meal first so as to prevent any risk of cross contamination.
Stopped by for a drink. A relaxing place to take a brake from shopping and have a cider while getting out thought together before going back to the shore to make out purchases.

Lovely setting, lively place. Staff very attentive. Food delicious and good vegetarian options. Recommend chicken quesdilla, vegetarian burritos could do with some sauce.
