I visited this restaurant on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, around 4:00 PM and ordered a Gyro Sandwich. I noticed that the owner was not dressed in a professional manner and, to my dismay, he blew his nose without washing his hands afterward. When I brought this to his attention, he began to yell at me. I decided to cancel my order and leave the establishment. As I was exiting, he continued to yell at me from behind. All the other customers were watching this unfold. The owner was incredibly rude, and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant was subpar. It seemed like there was a complete disregard for personal hygiene. I would not recommend anyone visit this place.
If you're seeking a dining experience in the heart of old Kabul, this restaurant is a must-visit. The nostalgic decor really took me back to the essence of original Kabul. Although the chairs could be a bit more comfortable, the food beautifully captures the flavors of the old city. We ordered the lamb kebab, which came with a generous serving of fresh naan, salad, and green sauce. The rice was fragrant, and the kebab was perfectly cooked, featuring tender chunks of meat. The staff were exceptionally friendly, particularly Masih Jan and his cousin, who even offered us tea. Make sure not to miss the complimentary starter soup! I can't wait to return soon—bakhair!
The complimentary soup was tasty and reminded me of a certain Asian soup that I can't quite place. The lamb kabob was enjoyable, but I wish the portion of lamb was a bit larger.
Omar has great hospitality. I felt welcomed and he was confident in the food. The food wasn't authentic, homemade and delicious. I will be back!!
