Forte's is one of the few remaining Italian cafes in Dundee, known for selling sweets from glass jars and serving delicious breakfasts, hot and cold rolls, and much more. The cafe has been a staple in the community since World War II, with only two owners and a loyal group of customers. Located in a neighborhood undergoing a revitalization with street art and a growing sense of community, Forte's offers a unique experience reminiscent of Dundee in the 1950s. If you're looking for a taste of nostalgia, this hidden gem is worth a visit.
I toddled into this old cafe today (near the friends whom with I am staying) because the chippie down the block was packed with school kids on lunch break. The place was absolutely delightful! Little booths and a big sandwich menu, I even had a mug of Bovril on the side. Coffee and frosted gingerbread for dessert! What a treat!
The staff is friendly and the restaurant offers a wide variety of breakfast options, either plated or in tasty rolls, all freshly cooked and served quickly. There is on-street parking as well as a large car park nearby. Don't forget to check out the awesome selection of desserts on your way out!
I recently enjoyed delicious coffee and bacon rolls at this cafe, with friendly staff. The atmosphere is like a nostalgic trip with its cozy booths and retro formica tables. We popped in as our daughter lives nearby. The wee 4 piece fry was lovely, toast was good, tea and coffee were hot and really nice. The 2 ladies working there were friendly and we can't wait to visit again.
