While passing through the charming town of Lisle on our way to Ithaca, we were drawn in by the sign for the distillery, so we decided to make a stop the next day. We're really glad we did! The tasting featured a rye and a bourbon, both of which were incredibly smooth and enjoyable. We couldn't resist and ended up buying a bottle of each. The owner, Phil French, entertained us for nearly an hour with captivating stories about his previous career, connections with celebrities, fishing tales, and anecdotes about his family. It was a delightful experience in a small town in upstate New York! If you're ever in the area, definitely drop in!
We arrived at 8:30 PM, and Phil was patiently waiting for us. He even brought out his whiskeys for tasting, despite the fact that the restaurant was closed. Phil is a genuinely nice guy; he shared fascinating stories about his ancestors and showed us the book written by John French. We’ve always enjoyed hearing tales about ancestors and their journeys to North America. Phil was a wonderful host, and we truly appreciated his hospitality on the evening of Friday, May 27, 2022.
Very cool place. Saw a sign on the way to Ithaca Distillery Tastings Open Phil owns the place and poured the tastings. It was a history lesson and spirits. The first women to vote in NY State did so about 1/4 mile from the distillery. Talk about historical. I 'm glad we took in French Distillers and Alchemist it 's a neat place with good tasty spirits and mucho bits of local and US know My advice is to stop by and enjoy.
Just on a whim, we stopped off in Lisle and accidentally stumbled on this hidden gem. We met Phil French,the manager, who came outside to invite us in go a taste of some of his first batch bourbon whiskey. While driving to Ithaca through the back roads couple of year ago, we stumbled upon this quaint little distillery. The folks who run these place were well informed and they had some awesome whisky's. Enjoyed the time we spent there and took home a bottle.
I spotted the sign while driving back to Philly and decided to stop by. I had a lovely outdoor tasting and learned about the distillery. It’s a fantastic local spot—I even picked up a bottle of bourbon and rye to enjoy at home.
Stopped by for an outdoor tasting of French's young and aged whiskeys and bourbons. Interesting to see how the liquors evolve by comparative tasting. Lilah's lightning has a kick!
