An early lunch pit stop in the area brought us in to The French Press. I wasn't really feeling like a sandwich so I decided to fill up on the humongous apple cranberry scone and a small pot of French press decaf. Hubs ordered the roast beef sandwich and creamy chicken soup with wild rice.He thoroughly enjoyed all parts of his meal and we both agreed the coffee was exceptionally good. I appreciated that I could order a decaf without a hint of scorn and have it arrive at the table with a tiny timer that went off when it was done brewing.Sadly, my scone was weirdly salty for a fruit-studded sweet scone. French Press Cafe was the meeting place with a friend on a cold February day. I hadn't been to this venue since it was a deli, so was interested to see what had transpired in a few years.When I entered, I could see right away that this was a great place for a visit and tea, coffee or a meal. My friend greeted me and was kind enough to buy me a soy chai latte. She was enjoying a homemade muffin and a coffee. This is a good venue for a quick lunch or a nice long chat over coffee with friends. There is a wide variety of menu items for those with particular dietary needs and a medium French press pot gives two large mugs of coffee. Service can be a little slow when clearing tables, but staff is usually busy. Good value and a popular spot in town!
This organic restaurant delivers a reliable assortment of salads, soups and sandwiches that varies every day. The seating is awkward, a line of tables with a few by the window, and it would be hard for a group larger than about four because tables have to be shuffled. Good village centre breakfast, coffee and lunchstop. Small friendly cafe, recent ownership change, same good service, innovative food from scratch, interesting choice of homemade muffins, cakes, daily soup, half a dozen toasted ciabata sandwiches, salads, and a daily special.
Great little place for lunch! Excellent sandwiches and baking. Good coffee too! Great place to stop for lunch while browsing around all the lovely little shops in Qualicum Beach!
Prices have gone up, sizes have diminished and the friendly vibe of previous visits is gone. Given time we will all get used to it I guess and the coffee is still good.
