We personally didn't see the hype about this place. The fried calamari came out soft, not fried long enough or sat out too long. The coconut shrimp was fried too long and tasted burnt. I got the Cajun grouper sandwich, which was very dry and unimpressive. My husband got the original grouper sandwich and it was flavorless, just a breaded piece of fish with cheese on top. The coconut rice I got as a side was really good, and our kiddo was happy with his shrimp and fries. Our waitress was friendly.This building isn't suitable for large groups, for those interested in trying it out. We will not return.
Every year, we make sure to stop by Frenchy's The Original when we visit Clearwater, and this time was no exception. We had a fantastic experience, especially sitting at the crowded bar on a Monday. Our bartender and waitress, Sam, did an excellent job balancing the busy atmosphere and still took the time to chat with us about our stay. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. Thank you, Sam, for managing a hectic restaurant and making sure your customers felt welcomed and served promptly.
The place was a little small inside, but the food made up for that. We all tried something different but every dish was very tasty and prices were very good 10-$12). However, the french fries were some of the best we've ever had. The rice and beans were also excellent. Highly recommend as it's right of the beach and close to lots of shops. If you enjoy eating fried foods and don't mind a limited menu, this is the place for you. The grilled fish and crab sandwich were both terrible. The chicken sandwich was too salty. The coleslaw was good and came in a large portion. The service was alright, although the waitress seemed unhappy. The bathroom was clean.
Have to start by saying how amazing the food is, the fries really are the best I’ve had. The staff are lovely and very friendly. We even visited the shop next door and used our 10% discount from our dining receipt. Highly recommend Frenchys.
Awesome food! Our waiter Scott was an amazing salesman! He knew the menus and what to recommend. Only one downer! No alcohol in the mixed drinks, however that seems to be a Florida thing! So stick to beer or wine.
