Celebrations are important and it’s good to acknowledge achievements, no matter how big or small. After an intense and busy couple of months, that was exactly what our evening out at Gallipoli Again was. A time to relax, catch up and reflect on the successes of the past few months. Gallipoli Again is part of the Gallipoli family of restaurants on Upper Street. Clusters of ornate lanterns hang from the ceiling creating a soft ambient atmosphere. Gallipoli has become the staple restaurant of Islington with no less than three establishment’s on Upper Street alone. As an Upper Street regular myself, I am familiar with all three and ‘Gallipoli Again’ is my personal favourite. It’s a great venue for both day and night. The large windows at the back of the restaurant mean that it is somewhat lighter than the other restaurants during the day; one of the distinctive features of Gallipoli is its traditional Turkish décor which includes heavy lampshades which means the other restaurants are eternally quite dark I can do nothing but praise the food of Gallipoli. an absolute gem in angel in london. they miss it! the most tasty Turkish food they will taste! simply try on the menu is the vegetarian meze plate, it contains a taste apparatus each of humus, kisir, bakla, cavil, soslu paltican, kartoffel salad, longk and falafel. perfect for 2 with its grilled broth basket, which was heavenly in itself. absolutely beloved dolma, kisir and cacik. cannot beat the natural creamy texture and the taste of its hummus. they wash their meal with the zunge tingling Turkish apple tee or the traditional Turkish coffee an average meal when the planned is less than £30 for 2 people. we came empty and spent 15 pounds! the experience is worth...read more
hands down best Turkish restaurant in london! the interiors of this place are mesmerizing and the walls are so beautiful with lots of glass art! each table would give them a beautiful view that improves the search experience. since we were vegetarian, the menu was limiting at many places I felt. but this place was an exception! would they have so many species of vegetarians, would like to try all of them. And so we have for a vegetarian mezzo plate, consisting of hummus, cacik, long, kartoffelsalat, saksura, bakla, kisir and falafel! safe enough for two people that they think we too ordered empty and great!
There are three similar restaurants along Upper Street for these Gallipoli restaurants – some have an outside area at the back of the restaurant and others have seating outside at the front. I visited this restaurant on a voucher and received 10 mezze dishes and a glass of prosecco for two people for £20. What a bargain. The staff were friendly and the food was wholesome and plentiful. The full prices are reasonable and portion wise you probably only need 7/8 mezze dishes. Would visit again.
everything has been oriented in the creation of this restaurant; from the quirky wall art and ambient lighting to the amazing Turkish menu. I came with a group of 5 and we ordered various elements from the menu, none of which impressed. the only negatiw was that the room was somewhat crowded and stuffed, but that would not despise me from here.
I love mezze because it's fun and communal and a surprise everytime. But at Gallipoli, the falafel tastes like sawdust. (Must write post about Hoxton Beach! Name is an oxymoron there, no There's not enough hummus to go around, and we have to pay extra f
I've moved country, but still think of this restaurant... Great food and atmosphere. Would recommend the tajines and pretty much everything else. Order several dishes so you can try them out and never mind what is in them. Enjoy.
amazing cocktails, wonderful eating. the chefs and bar channels are very successful. Turkish workers are so friendly. great atmosphere, good service. we're coming back. they must again serve “Tabbouleh”.
