Stopped here at the end of a long day for dinner with kids. Even though they were about to close, they were kind enough to seat us. The food here is super mediocre. My beef dip was meh, and all the burgers were meh. The little one got chicken fingers and those were actually tasty. We were surprised that the kid's meal came with a dessert, so that was fun for the kids, though they'd already gone next door for ice cream by the time we found out. I will say, though, that the night we were there, there was a little street festival happening, and it was nice to sit outside and listen to the vocal stylings of Scott Jacobs while we ate.
We ended up eating here because it was one of the few options open on a Sunday night and was pleasantly surprised. The food was extremely average (I had a chicken Caesar wrap with fries but the service was excellent (our server was so friendly! and the restaurant has a really cozy vibe. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but if you're passing by and looking for a sandwich or burger this is a safe bet.
I knew Gary of Gary 's Bistro and he thought of everything! He has the cool '50 's design and comfort of the booths or tables and his food is always wonderful and his portions are always generous and delicious! I give his legendary Bistro a 5 star rating, without a doubt! Thanks! His menu is so varied and large, you 're going to be able to have pretty much anything you may want and feel great about it!
Take a seat by the fireplace and treat yourself to the amazing chowder—they prepare it right in-house, and it's packed with vegetables and clams. I would recommend skipping the poutine; it wasn’t impressive. However, the highlight of this restaurant is definitely the staff, who are some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. The service was ok, the food tasted ok, the decor hasn't changed in 30 years, a bit run down and dated. The club wrap was 60% lettuce, the soup (choice of fires, salad or soup) was delicious but was basically served in what a side of gravy should be in, for $18.75 not much of a value)
The food is consistently delicious every time I visit, but there are times when it’s served somewhat cold, which seems to depend on who’s cooking in the kitchen. Additionally, the restaurant itself is beginning to look a bit worn out—it might be time for a makeover.
I ordered a basic burger, my brother got the mushroom burger, and my sister-in-law had a huge BLT. The fries were hot and crispy, and the side salad was enormous and fresh. The burgers were exceptional—delicious!
