Just back from another trip to Westendorf and made a point of returning to Gasthaus Steinberg we were not disappointed. As always Agatha was the perfect hostess and translated the menu for us with recommendations. My husband had the best tender venison he has ever had. The 'beer soup' is fabulous and a speciality to this restaurant. Micel is a wonderful chef and his fresh produce directly from the garden is used in all his dishes. Beautiful Austrian food, in a very special location. Micel and Agatha are a great team and have created a very 'special' restaurant experience in the Hinterwindau. We have stayed in their room previously and they are perfect if you want peace and quiet and a wonder...
My husband booked a two day stay in the lovely 'Steinberg Haus' in August 2013 as a surprise for me, what a surprise!! We had a really lovely quiet, relaxing time in the Hinterwindau. The food in Restaurant Steinberg is excellent. The food is fresh and the flavours are unique. The chef has great pride in his dishes and loves to produce the best! If you want a hideaway in nature with excellent food...... look no further Steinberg Haus and restaurant is 'perfect'!
If you want to have a little adventurous nature and find the real gem of the restaurant, you should try this restaurant. paulan beer, fantastic speckknodelsuppe, non-generic children's dishes, homemade ice cream, brain dishes, fresh tasty fish, all of local products...with only unbeatable price-performance ratio. we will return safely in winter.
The menu is extensive offering local specilties prepared in a gournet way. Everything we tried was delicious and what the other guests were eating looked just as good! Meals can be enjoyed on the large terrace by the garden or in the cozy restaurant inside....Friendly service.

Wir waren im Hotel und haben drei Abendessen im Restaurant eingenommen. Das Essen war köstlich, gut zubereitet und die Portionen waren gut, was wichtig ist, wenn man den ganzen Tag Ski fährt. Stellen Sie sicher, dass sie mit dem hausgemachten Salat richtig lecker beginnen.
Spitzenküche im wunderschönen Alpental. absolut atemberaubend. Wir haben hier als Gruppe von 14 Personen zu Abend gegessen und ausnahmslos allen fiel die erstaunliche Qualität der lokal produzierten Küche auf.
Delicious food and plenty to do outside for the kids. A good place off the beaten track of Ski Welt. Don't miss it on a sunny day and relax outside on the terace.
It is always nice to visit Agata and Micheal - very good food and top service ???? We enjoy to stay at Gasthaus Steinberg and have been here several times.
