Of course, a lot of places recommended by friends were booked solid, so we ended up picking one of the top five restaurants on some obscure Austrian site (I don’t...remember exactly, but it was something like „wurstel.com“ don’t take me literally, please). Wir besuchen immer das Gasthaus Wild, wenn wir in Wien sind. Es ist ein klassisches Beisl mit modernen Akzenten. Die Zutaten sind von hoher Qualität, die Atmosphäre ist entspannt und gemütlich, mit vielen Einheimischen. Im Gegensatz zu einigen anderen Beiseln bietet es eine sehr gute Weinauswahl (fast ausschließlich österreichisch). Das Essen ist österreichische Klassiker mit einigen kleinen Anpassungen, darunter vegetarische Optionen und leichtere Gerichte. Das Rinderfilet ist eine gute Wahl, ebenso wie das Wild in Saison. This was recommended to us by an Austrian tour guide we asked her where we could get some good Austrian food. Initially we thought we were not going to be able to find seats but we did. It was maybe 7:30pm when we got...there and it was rather busy. We both got schnitzel which came with a kind of potato salad, so not fries. It was all very tasty and above all, fresh. You can tell that they work with fresh ingredients and that food is made to order. Really nice outdoor ambience with soft lighting; we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there.
We ate outside on the large terrace, which was really appreciable. The lamb goulash and the schnitzel were great. They had a few nice beers on tap. The service was fine and we did not wait too long for the food. Their menu changes often...which is usually a proof of quality. The price was OK.

Das Gasthaus hatte eine starke, ältere Atmosphäre. Insgesamt war es recht nett. Das Essen war gut (Schnitzel und Gulasch). Das Bier war zufriedenstellend. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Wir fühlten uns hier willkommen und die Preise waren nicht so hoch. Empfehlenswert!
We aimed for another place to eat, but as it was closed, we ended up here. It was full when we arrive but the waiter found a table for us. The staff was very attractive, and the food was good. I went for a soup...and my son for duck, both were happy with the choice.
