I've been coming here for 3 years, recently they got a B on their food safety rating. look it up. Servers are always excellent, but on my last visit the premium steak was cut by a 9 year old and the marinated meats had way more fat and much stringier fat than ever before. They cut quality down on everything but the brisket, which is not unscathed as now it's cut much thicker for whatever reason. I woke up morning after sick, which has NEVER been a problem for me. I have an amazing immune system, I've eaten raw chicken and felt better than today. No alcohol last night. Staff is nice, atmosphere is great but unfortunately I will not ever be coming back here, as the problem seems to be systemic...
Man, I really really really really waited to like this place. Like really. I tried hard. The building and location is super inviting, music was fun but after that it seems they just gave up. I’ve never been to a korean bbq place that makes you cut giant pieces of beef and chicken. Is it that tough to pre-cut the product so it cooks better? The chicken was SO thick that it just burned on outside and never cooked all the way. The steak was just pieces of fat. I feel the quality of meat was just generally poor. I've visited two other Gen locations, and this one is definitely among my favorites. Two of my friends and I came here on a Saturday afternoon. As long as you put your name and phone number on the waitlist, everything goes smoothly. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is very relaxed and pleasant. I particularly appreciated how they check in periodically to see if we wanted to order more meat or side dishes for the table. They are truly attentive. Bulgogi and galbi are always my favorites at these places. Highly recommended!
I do not recommend visiting this restaurant. The quality of the meats is quite poor compared to the Oxnard location, which is much better. The pickled cucumber was soggy, and the onions were old and unappetizing. They charge $5 for any wasted food, which is reasonable, but they restrict each table to only four orders per round. This setup is different from other franchises, even though it’s an all-you-can-eat concept. I wouldn’t return to this location and cannot recommend it. Secondly, there's a minor issue that affects the overall experience: when sitting in the booth near the entrance, the sunlight was so bright that it was uncomfortable to look at others in my booth. A simple shade or screen could resolve this. I understand this seems like a small detail, but it does detract from the overall experience. As for parking, there’s a garage conveniently located directly across the street. We parked there for about three hours, and it only cost a dollar.
The service was mediocre they didn't check on us very much and that was slow bringing out the meat one of the burners kept going off and I couldn't figure out how to keep it going. So it took forever to cook the meat for eight people on one burner. The servers were pleasant enough just not as helpful as we would have hoped forFood: 4/5
This Korean BBQ restaurant located outside of K Town is excellent and offers great value for money. The establishment is clean, and they serve all the traditional Korean side dishes.
