Arrived 4-45 on a 18/11/22 without booking got a table for 2. Very pleasant attentive staff. Drinks order taken delivered promptly even though they where very busy. 3 different menus to choose from we choose 2 courses for 12-95 or 3 courses for £15 -95. Starts mains ordered. After a short wait starters arrive nicely presented, well prepared very tasty. Mains arrived after a short wait after finishing starters everything is freshly prepared cooked so a short wait is good. What a lovey village pub. My husband ordered the mixed grill and I ordered roast pork. When served the plates were full, so much so my husband couldn't eat the hand cut chips because of the amount of various meats (pork, gammon, sausages, steak, chicken) alongside the black pudding, onion rings, mushrooms and tomatoes that were on his plate. The roast pork was tender, vegetables cooked the way I like them. Both of us enjoyed our meal, excellent value for money. Both ladies serving us were pleasant and friendly. I would definitely recommend The George and Dragon to our friends and family.
9 of us in our family party for Sunday lunch. Staff were very welcoming. Between us, we ordered beef, lamb, pork, chicken. I chose pork, and it was delicious. Everyone else said theirs was too. Huge portions, served with a variety of veg, plus Yorkshire pudding. We also ordered cauliflower cheese, which was very nice. Everything was served piping hot. I couldn't cope with a dessert as I was too full, but enjoyed the cappuccino coffee. Highly recommended.
We’ve been coming to the George and Dragon as our “go to” country pub for a number of years and it never disappoints. IMO It’s the best country pub in the Darlington area for quality, quantity and value for money. Everything is always cooked fresh (and never frozen) including the chips! There’s always at least 2 decent handful beers available which are changed frequently. The haddock and chips take some beating.

Once again, our monthly gathering at this restaurant was exceptional in terms of both food and service. The staff consistently provide excellent service. The menu offers a fantastic selection of high-quality dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. The dishes are always well-presented, hot, and delicious. This restaurant provides great value for the price.
The staff was friendly and the service was quick. However, my meal was not edible and had to be returned. I had ordered crispy pork belly, but the skin was soggy and the meat was severely undercooked to the point where even a steak knife couldn't cut it. The issue was handled well, but we will not be returning for food in the future.
Cold outside we popped in to find a real blazing fire on the go and welcoming staff. Ordered lunch of fish and chips and liver and bacon. The plates and portions were huge! Homemade, cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. Excellent value for money too. Being Dog friendly made it extra special for us as well.
Called here 'on spec ' for a mid week lunch with family... The menu was extensive and varied with something for everyone. Staff were friendly and professional in their duties. Food was served hot, delicious and looked appetising, tasting just as good!! Recommended and will call here again for sure.
