I definitely have to say the service and food exceeded our expectations. Our server was attentative, and the quality of the food was top-notch. It is farm to table and table to farm. They really care about quality and being eco-friendly, as you might expect. Also, you have to check out the gardens afterward. We went to dinner in the evening and walked around as the sun was setting and cooling down outside.The main dining room was nice, but the patio seems to be the best spot at the restaurant. My partner and I ordered the vegetable hummus, shaved root salad, fool, and stir-fried noodles with tofu. The salad dressing was too salty, so we left most of it uneaten. However, the hummus plate was delicious and beautifully presented, with slightly sweet chips. I enjoyed the tamisenplatte, not knowing what to expect but was satisfied. The leftovers the next day were also enjoyable. I didn't try the tofu fritter, but some said it was good. My non-vegan partner had the shrimp salad and also found the dressing too salty, leaving half of her meal uneaten. I was pleasantly surprised by Gertrudes while visiting the Desert Botanical Garden. Arriving early and feeling hungry, we initially thought it was just a touristy cafe. However, after seeing they had a full bar and delicious-looking food in the gift shop, we decided to give it a try. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance with a wonderful patio. The food and service were excellent. I tried the Hot Mess Tostadas with Hatch Green Chiles, Pork, Poblano Cream sauce, refried beans, and an over easy egg, which was absolutely delicious. Nice place. Love the outdoor seating. Service was slow, think they forgot about us. Once I reminded them they did pretty good. Good beer selection, great location. Just tell the front gate your dining at the restaurant. We had breakfast fried rice and the burger. Food was great. I like this place and I’d come again. I think earlier in the morning when it’s cool it would be perfect on the patio.

Gertrude's atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. The color scheme blends into the Desert Botanical Garden. Food is good. Wish there were more reasonable price options especially for lunch and smaller portions. Service is awesome. I enjoy going here and will return again.
The food was very well received by the other guests. I liked mine very much but I would love it if there were more vegan options. Progressive ones, not bean burgers and veggie fajitas. It would be very much welcome! It was a great evening.
The food we tried was delicious, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The menu was clearly marked, making it easy to choose. The location is great, especially for those looking to enjoy the gardens.
