Took a group of clients out for dinner. While the restaurant provides a good piece of meat, the steaks were just alright after considering how expensive they were. While the staff was friendly, they were just alright with numerous serving errors throughout the night (ex. they didn't clean my setting nor the person sitting next to me after we finished our appetizers, they mIxed up a couple of orders, asked us to pass along people's sorbet because they couldn't get to the other side of the table, etc.). We were taken there by some friends who've mentioned the restaurant was incredibly charming and the food was great. Gibbys didn't disappoint in either of those two categories: the building is a converted old stable and although very popular with locals and visitors, the standard of service is never dropped.Not only they have fantastic steaks and seafood but a daily catch of fish and a great selection of different foods and desserts. You get what you pay for and although this is not the cheapest of restaurants it is worth every penny.
I like to do things my way and they did the steak just the way I like it. And they even have one of my favourite beers in stubbies! Sure, wine is the chosen method of enjoyment for most but what the heck, Ex it was. Food is great overall. Steak was perfect. Monte Carlo potato could have been a little warmer. Service was friendly and efficient. The only issue I have is the same with all steak houses now: the dress code is too slack. I saw a dude covered in tatts and wearing a beater. Gone are the suit and tie days, to be sure.
7 of us went for bachelor party dinner. Can't say enough good things about our waiter Milton. He was attentive without being intrusive, funny and knowledgable about the menu. A true professional. The food was very good. One of our party felt his steak wasn't cooked to his order, but the rest of us had no issues. The sides were delicious. Recommended for a special night out.

Enjoyed great steaks and drinks at this fine restaurant, in a very old building. Bustling, yet staff did a fine job. Bread and pickles to start off were included. Parking by valet available, although we did park on street- where you paid about $4 an hour. use the valet.
I have been here so many times. This time we were served by a new waiter. I ordered my regular dish. Big portions like usual, Nice house salad with their famous pickles and hot bread. Always a nice and pleasant evening with great friends.
Another recommendation from our Concierge in possibly the oldest building in Montreal. Reputed to have the best steaks in town, certainly the steak was huge but was a little overdone for a restaurant with this reputation
Well it was Anniversary for us and the place was perfect dining. Had steak Dianne with a drink deserving 5 stars. Thank you everyone who gave us a night to remember with a candle by the window.
