Gino's Pizzeria - Tisch resevieren

While visiting Philly doing some sightseeing and hanging out with friends, was in the mood for some Italian fare and had a decision to make at dinner time. Stay in town and wait 1+ hour for a table for four at a place in the Little Italy section of Philly or drive a bit further out to the 'burbs for smaller mom and pop place. A quick search on Yelp as well as input from my local guides, suggested rather than put our name on a list and wait in a cramped foyer, to make the short 20 minute drive to Norristown and check out Gino 's Pizzeria and Restaurant. I appreciated the pleasant background music throughout our event, which added to the atmosphere. The room was exactly as we had agreed upon and was set up well before our arrival. Being a BYOB venue, there was an ample supply of wine glasses arranged aesthetically. Rob was attentive during the event, checking in on us about cutting the cake and serving the food. A fresh coat of paint won't cover up the 23 health violations Gino's acquired on the 10th of July. A mere 4 months since their last health code inspection, (in which Gino's scored a whopping 17 health code violations), only one thing has changed at Gino's: they painted the outside. Thats it. Flies inside the building and kitchen, dirty ice machines, rodent droppings everywhere, not dates on items in the kitchen. Do I need to say anymore? You'd think that after being served 17 HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS at the beginning of March, they'd step up their game and make it clean. Most recently, we hosted my little cousin's wedding rehearsal dinner at Gino’s. Catering to a large and lively group like ours is no small feat, yet every dish that came out of the kitchen was simply incredible. The calamari was perfectly crispy and fresh, the bruschetta featured crunchy bread topped with ripe, fresh tomatoes, and the penne in vodka sauce was the best I’ve ever tasted. Our waitress was friendly but seemed overwhelmed and it was difficult to get her attention. Now, about the food: the warm bread was delightful, and I ordered the Veal Ala Gino with spaghetti, which was really delicious (and a bit salty)! I have to give a huge compliment to the quality of the food, but the wait for our main dish was quite frustrating; we didn't receive it until after 7 PM. One downside was the noise from the staff member cleaning tables—she seemed to be careless with how she handled the dishes, making quite a racket as if she were just throwing them into the bin. Overall, it was a mixed experience!

My friend and I had an amazing dinner last night! From start to finish, it was amazing. Our waitress was great, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was attentive, checked in on us frequently, and was delightful in every sense of the word. The food was so good! I am a picky Italian food eater, and everything was prepared well. The meatballs were also delightful. Whether you have one or 100, I highly recommend! I was also impressed that the owner of the restaurant walked around, checking in on the patrons. It is obvious that loves what he does. I am looking forward to my next visit!

Ate there while visiting family for lunch. Huge portions. However, veal was way too salty. Lasagna was pretty good. And shrimp scampi was also decent. Mediocre tortellini, tasted bland and store bought. BUT as others noted, the restaurant was recently closed due a potential Hepatitis A outbreak. Another review earlier noted about unsanitary conditions at the restaurant, now I wish I listened and stayed the heck away. Let's pray everyone in my family will be ok...

Gino has the most delicious Italian food. We ordered from them twice now and they hit the spot every time . I ordered their eggplant parm once and meatball and pasta the other time. The price is fairly reasonable and everyone in our party enjoyed their food. I would definitely come back again. Hopefully will get a chance to enjoy their indoor dining in the future. The very best eggplant parmigiana and the sautéed spinach is delicious. The garlic bread with anchovies is a must get.
