Don't know why this place has such high ratings... We came here over the long weekend and ordered a steak and burger. My partner said it was one of the worst steaks he has had. The steak was plain and didn't come with any sauce. The signature salad was underwhelming and it was extra $ for chips. The chicken burger was very plain with simple salad and mayonnaise which made it merely satisfactory. Chips were ok though. The interior of this place feels like a cafeteria and the waiter guy was clumsy. High price for underwhelming food. Could cook better steaks at home on the BBQ.
We went on a Thursday and even then the place was packed. Picked the biggest steaks they have (a large T-bone and a scotch fillet on the bone). Both steaks were cooked beautifully and came with plenty of salad. We underestimated the size of the steaks (the next table were making jokes of how big they were) and ordered a side portion of chips, which we ended up taking home. The decoration of the restaurant was down to earth, the service was good and friendly, but best of all it's probably the best value steakhouse around. Will definitely go back again and again.
The steaks are excellent but if you don't want steak they will BBQ chicken, lamb & pork cuts over their charcoal grill. The steaks come as ordered. (At some other places you may order medium rare but it arrives as medium, for example). The accompaniments are simple & there is no dessert menu but if you want a good steak... this is a great place to go. Steaks come from huge to small. It's a good idea to book as its always busy.
The BBQ Inn was originally down the bottom of course Hindley Street, not the most salubrious area at night but the food was always reliable.These days they have a BBQ Inn in Glenelg and it's great. Simple, old-fashioned food for simple tastes, you will even be able to order a mixed grill! It's a meat lovers paradise but they also have a House Salad, that's a bit special too. It's great news this family restaurant still serving up the biggest and best steaks cooked over a charcoal fire after 40 odd years. Whist living in Sydney and visiting Adelaide, it's literally a Tram right to steak heaven. But don't go to this restaurant for the dessert as they don't have any. You don't need it!
This business has been going for 40 odd years in the same place which says something.This is simply a steak house. The décor is low-key. The service is however surprisingly good and friendly. Prices are reasonable. The steaks are very good quality although the salads etc are less impressive. Good atmosphere.
We had steaks here the other day. Whilst the steak/meat was relatively cheap compared to other eatery that serves steak, we don't think the steak was well made. For example, medium rare came out very rare! It was ****. Service was prompt and polite otherwise.

Best steak place in Adelaide. No smoke and mirrors here, just top quality food. Value for money aswell, and you know your paying for what you get and not paying for a name or 'region' e.g. Argentinian etc
