The food is good but not great nor excellent. They only had a few options which is okay has it was during a slow time. However.......the meal was overpriced. I paid $20 plus for a meal that really should have been $16 at most. Still that was not really an issue for me as it's a local business that seems to really value sustainability; which, I am more then happy to pay extra for. The place is in a lodge so the atmosphere is casual. So is the service........the service was actually too casual. We recieved our food, finished our food and waited patiently with empty plates while the staff ate together. Still not a problem, glad to see them have a family meal together. None of these things thing...
We ate at the bistro both nights of our stay. Unfortunately the second night was the chef's day off. But the owners made a gluten free pasta that was delicious. The fresh cod the night before was cooked perfectly. The only recommendation I have for improvement is to have a real sit down breakfast that is included with the price of the room (especially off season) - as a healthy real breakfast is more in line with the health consciousness of the whole place - walking, kayaking, morning meditation and acupressure treatments.
This food was exquisite. The daily menu is not going to blow your mind in terms of choice (choice of three for soup or salad and then choice of three for mains) but the care and quality put into the preparation more than makes up for it. We had a shrimp/muscle tagliate and feta/squash gnocchi (which was freshly made). The split pea soup with cinnamon, turmeric and chili was really good as well. It is a bit pricey per dish, though not extravagantly so, and worth the money for the experience.
We spent a night at Cabot Shores and were encouraged to stay for dinner. By far, it was the absolute best meal we ate during our entire trip! My husband had a haddock dish, while I had a chickpea and chicken curry dish. Best homemade bread you will ever eat! The food was delicious, the waitstaff super friendly, and we enjoyed sipping our organic coffee and homemade carrot cake on the comfortable couches by the fireplace. This is a real Garden to Table bistro. They actually include salad with every meal because they believe salad is good for you! Quaint, bright, generous, fresh, open, different, vegetarian friendly, dog friendly - wow.If you go there in the fall there is their own fresh pressed Apple Cider.You might even have to call to see if they have availability as they are becoming a local favourite.
I'll be Back.I believe that is the phrase business owners want to hear. My sister, brother-in-law and myself stayed in one of the "Yurts". It was comfortable and warm, Close to the bath house and a pleasant walk to the lodge. My German Shepherd was with us as well, nice to be able to bring "Billie" to pet friendly Cabot Shores.
We had an excellent stay at the resort and the dining experience was part of it. From fresh baked bread and home made yogurt and granola for breakfast to the fall inspired evening meals we were thoroughly impressed. In fact, we had the best lamb shank ever.
The dinner was awesome and uses seasonal ingredients grown on site. We really enjoyed it. However for breakfast I would recommend travelling 10 minutes up the cabot trail for more options/better value for money. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
These 2 made this place bearable!!!! They are incredible chefs and so sweet and personable!!!! They interact with patrons and are very nice. If it werent for them that place would be a nightmare
