We were looking for Sunday lunch and the food stalls at Rusty's markets had been picked over so we tried Golden Boat based on reasonable TripAdvisor reviews. We had several steamed prawn dim sum which were good to very good and a plate of whitebait which was well seasoned but too salty. We finished with some roast duck which was too chewy as it was a bit undercooked. Without drinks this all came to $45.00 which I felt was too expensive for a quick lunch. Nothing was awful but it did not quite meet the mark.
We visited in the evening and asked for something off the menu which was no problem. We ordered from the menu as well and the salt and pepper prawns were delicious and a very good size portion. Cantonese steak was tender and perfect. We have eaten in hundreds of Chinese restaurants all around the world. And this is a good one.
Yum Cha great choices, wonderful flavours, ginger prawn my favourite. Service is great, it's friendly & the place is very popular, seemingly, lots of regulars, which says a lot. Will definitely go back soon!
Was quite skeptical when first arrived as popular with tour group but the food is surprising authentic and well executed. Love the black pepper pork chop. Will come back again.

We eat slot of Chinese and have travelled extensively in China and while this isn't traditional Chinese it is very good Australian Chinese. Staff were friendly and courteous.
This seemed quite expensive for Chinese food. It is quite a large restaurant with take-away as well. Nothing was out-standing but the food was quite edible albeit average.
We visit the Golden Boat whenever we are in Cairns, the food and service can not be faulted. I recommend the steamed duck combination, the won ton soup is really good too.
Took a friend to say "Thank You" for Yum Cha at this restaurant. Very nice food but service was lacking, We were also the only patrons who were not offered a Green Tea.

I love to eat in this restaurant for Yam Cha. A lot of different steamed and deep flied dish. Also a la carte menu are good,too. Not so westernized Chinese food.
Definitely won't be back. Food had been sitting for a while, no prices on the menu...and not receptive to any feedback. Not a great tum cha experience!
