I recently visited Gombay, and it was an experience — just not a good one. The first thing you notice isn’t the décor or the aroma of food it’s the sound of the older Chinese lady running the place barking orders at the young staff. The poor waiter who served us was absolutely run off his feet all evening while she stood nearby issuing instructions at full volume. Nothing sets the mood for dinner quite like feeling you’ve wandered into a boot camp. Credit where it’s due — the young lad serving us tried his best.
