Went for lunch with my Nan. We first ordered drinks, then got asked by a guy if we wanted food (who working on the till with dirty nails but also handling food . Then I noticed 2 female staff members preparing sandwiches one after the other (different bread and fillings yet no gloves worn or hand washes between making different food . My roll I ordered was off the special menu (gammon, apple sauce and stuffing but I had no apple sauce! except when it arrived it was more stuffing with 2 tiny half slices of gammon, which didn’t even fill the bread. So it tasted more of a stuffing roll than anything else! I don’t think I will be rushing back!
Been going here for a while and was pleased when they reopened after lock down as I'm a big fan of supporting independents, cakes are the highlight here, truthfully I usually take away as I find the seating area a little uncomfortable and old fashioned for my taste. The reason I'm giving 3 not 5 stars is I was shocked to be told today by the member serving that face masks aren't needed in store, there is little protection anywhere in that branch and found it quite disconcerting. That being said the server was really friendly and got great service from her just a pity safety isn't given the same attention as the cakes and service.
Since Greggs in Farnborough doesn't offer them, I decided to spend some money and walk a little further down the road to visit GTB. This cozy bakery had plenty of seating and a nice selection of cakes, baked goods, and light lunches. I decided to try the Lardy Cake, a nostalgic favorite from my childhood. The cake was suitably rich and covered in caramelized sugar with a generous sprinkling of fruit, although some of the fruit had all migrated to one layer of the cake. Overall, it was tasty especially when heated up and enjoyed with a big mug of tea.
We had a family visit to the Good Taste cafe at the Country Market. Toasted tea cakes were not toasted on half (prob due to size) but delivered by young lad who was very friendly. The problem came when we had to return a cappuccino due to taselessness. It was replaced but brought to the table by an older lady who never even acknowledged us or apologised. I am addicted to the Lardy cake, but this time I tried the London Cheesecake. It's convenient that you can place an order for them. My only complaint is that I didn't like the jam in the London Cheesecake. I think the issue is that I preferred the Greggs version. However, this version of the classic London treat had a unique taste to it. It's still enjoyable to eat with a hot cup of tea.
My friend I always went to Good Taste in Camberley but that has sadly closed. So, we were pleasantly surprised to come across the one in Farnborough! We had cheese ham toasties which were delicious. The staff were absolutely brilliant, we felt very comfortable in there. We enjoyed our lunch there very much will definitely go again
The staff at this restaurant are lovely, but unfortunately the air conditioning has not been working for over four years. The inside temperature is very uncomfortable. If the owners do not make the effort to get it fixed, myself and other customers will choose to go elsewhere, as there are plenty of other options available.
Had afternoon tea with friends.. great choice of sandwiches, scones were creamy and buttery with fresh strawberry jam and clotted cream... and the mini lemon meringue and strawberry tarts were amazing!!! I would not hesitate to recommend this place. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Ate breakfast here when we were staying in Farnborough. Food was great and service good. We’d just suggest they clean the couch area at the back as the seating looked pretty dirty.
