GBK is one of my family's go to restaurants well it certainly was prior to Covid times. This was our first visit since Covid and sadly things have gone significantly downhill. Kids meals especially are nowhere near as good. Previously these came with the option of a glass bottle of Coke/Diet Coke but this has now been replaced with a teeny carton of Cawston Press a ridiculous change. Also the burgers no longer come with any salad just a patty on the bun and some sauce. So bland that my daughter left hers. My other daughter's chicken burger had no lettuce on either so just some chicken on a bun with some mayo. Previously they adored the kids meals but these were a serious let down. The adults...
Visited for a quick lunch before seeing a show at the Studio Theatre, which is almost directly opposite. It is also right opposite the New Wimbledon Theatre. We had booked so had a table; however it is quite a small restaurant and probably quite popular due to its location, being especially good for families attending performances such as the pantomime, and so while we were there, we noted that all walk-ins were politely being advised that they were only accommodating pre-booked guests. Therefore I would strongly recommend booking, especially for weekends and when there is a show on at the theatre. We ordered on the app, which we normally do at the GBKs we go to, as this is easy to customise...
We stopped going to GBK Wimbledon or ordering delivery about a year ago as the quality starting to get progressively worse, despite the premium price tag. A year on, we thought we would give them another try. We ordered 2 cheese burgers well done, a bean burger, a chicken burger, 2 fries and 2 milkshakes. One of the cheese burger patties was raw in the middle, the other rare and the fries where undercooked. The milkshakes did not turn up at all and the whole meals was stone cold. They clearly don’t care about their customers, just maximising profits, there are plenty of better options, don’t waste your money. We will never darken their doorway again.
I was disappointed to find out that Dip n Flip had ceased trading (a year late) and GBK in Putney had also closed so it was a great relief to find GBK in Wimbledon. The Mighty was wonderfully cooked Medium Rare, as I had asked, and well presented. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. Despite it being almost full at a lunchtime session, the staff found us a good table and the food was served soon after we ordered. The place was clean and comfortable, but I would have sat on a concrete slab had I known how good the burger was.
Second time in the last month, just terrible. Staff friendly(hence 2 stars), but in almost empty place over half an hour wait for both food and drink...water was forgotten altogether, milkshake was watery just a shadow of what it used to be before...one burger cold and well done instead of medium...the other burger raw still, very very rare... And we had the same experience about three weeks ago we just though it may have been just one off and gave it another try not again, this was last time.
Shame shame..ordered a medium rare burger and skinny fries. Burger was well done and fries were forgotten. These people don't own the place but just work there, so don't care so much about the fact that when you spend 20 quid for burger and fries experience has to be perfect.. Poor management zero care
Unfortunately they have closed several GBK branches but the one in Wimbledon remains and the burgers are excellent. I like mine medium rare and they are cooked just right. The prices are reasonable too. Flip 'n ' Dip was my favourite burger place in London, but they have closed down. Shame.
I ordered a takeaway vegan burger. Service was average to slow and the burger was OK but by no means the best I've eaten.
