We live in Dorset but my In-Laws live in Cambridge and we have had several great family celebrations at the Felix Hotel, including a wedding last April. Therefore it seemed the perfect place to take my In-Laws to for Christmas lunch this year. I booked early and a few weeks before Christmas I got a phone call from Reception to say they were e-mailing the Christmas Lunch menu to me for us to make our choices. The menu did not arrive, so I telephoned the hotel and they apologised and said they would re-send it. Again, it did not arrive, so I telephoned again to be told that they had sent it, twice, to the wrong address. On Christmas Day we arrived at the restaurant where a young woman, who was...

Gone so far and fast downhill it should enter the Winter Olympics. Used to be one of the top restaurants in Cambridge with exciting, innovative and really well prepared food. The new menu from a new chef is far more basic; think a half decent pub rather than a quality restaurant. What was there was executed reasonably well but was just pretty boring. I would hope that this is an interim slide that may be recovered from, but I wonder if the competition from another very good quality hotel with super restaurant in the shape of the newly revamped University Arms and Parker’s Tavern, is drawing the necessary custom to maintain a higher standard due to its favourable location. It is such a shame...

We have stayed at this hotel and dined at the restaurant on multiple occasions. This time, staying at a Premier Inn across the road, we decided to dine here. The Bistro menu is competitively priced, possibly to attract more diners like us. There were only four other people dining, with two waitstaff (one male and one female). The male waiter seemed inexperienced and did not know how to properly serve guests. He brought us a bottle of wine without checking if we needed help with it, and left the foil edges on the bottle after opening it. He also forgot to provide us with cutlery and did not ask if we were enjoying our food. When my wife didn't like her dish, we had to wait for someone to clea...

We had a lovely dinner, the staff were all lovely and very helpful, and the food was good value. We had drinks at the bar first, as it was happy hour there was a two-for-one deal for all drinks which was very good value, and the prices were much better than we expected at a hotel bar. The menu had a good selection, and my partner got the 'Fizz Friday ' menu which included a glass of Prosecco, a starter, main and dessert. We enjoyed all our dishes as well as the restaurant 's atmosphere, which is modern but quite intimate. The food did take a bit of time between courses, but this was not an issue as we were not in any rush, and the portions were generous so it was nice to have time in between... My wife and I dined at Graffiti restaurant during our stay at the Felix hotel. The restaurant is small, clean, and reasonably comfortable. However, the service was lacking as there seemed to be insufficient staff. They were friendly but appeared overwhelmed. The quality of the food was also disappointing. While my starter of scallops and belly pork was good, my wife's arancini were mushy. The main course, pollock on a bed of seafood paella, was not up to standard. My pollock was under seasoned while my wife's was overly salty. The seafood paella was unappetizing, resembling a yellow mush. We decided not to stay for dessert or coffee and will not be returning to this restaurant.

My parents have been coming here for a few years and have kindly brought me along for the ride twice this year. Lunch in May was so-so so the thought of dinner didn’t thrill me, but it wasn’t my call so best keep that to myself! I went for salted cod with prawns and linguine and really wanted for some flavourful broth in the bottom of the bowl. If the dish was supposed to be so dry put it on a plate! The tempura samphire dominated when on the fork, but without any the mouthful was bland. The texture of the fish was superb however. The lemon tart with blackcurrant sorbet was worth a star/roundel/rosette on its own. Without its saving grace this would be a 2 blob review.

We were looking forward to a reunion where we had eaten well previously. Friends travelling from South Herts, Norwich and Essex. Then a phone call 90 minutes before we were due, to say the booking was cancelled as the restaurant was closed. No explanation, no apology. I protested and said this was unacceptable. After 5 mins a message from the manager to say he would open 60- 90 minutes later than our reservation. Not possible for our party so we declined and will not go back. This was outrageous treatment to a previously loyal customer. Reading previous reviews perhaps we had a lucky escape.

We visited as part of an anniversary celebration stay, booked by our children. As it was a Friday, we were able to take advantage of the Fizz Friday menu which included a glass of Prosecco. The food was very well presented, carefully prepared and very tasty. My dessert came with Happy Anniversary piped round the edge of the plate which was a lovely touch. We had read that the service was slow, but this was not our experience, at all, nor was it for the other couples eating at the same time. Staff efficient, polite and not over familiar. Loved it. I made a reservation for afternoon tea for 6 people for the following week and was informed that I needed to indicate which version of the tea each guest would prefer. I found it unreasonable to have to make that decision for everyone. It seems that the restaurant does not keep enough food to accommodate all three of their afternoon tea options. I decided to cancel my reservation as I have concerns about their ability to handle any aspect of their service if they cannot manage something as simple as this.
