"I can only give three stars because I dispise restaurants that charge a mandatory tip. A tip is for the server who worked hard enough to earn it. In this case, I would have given her more than the customary 15% and also more than the 20% mandatory tip I was charge because she was really great. It's not like I was in a large party, it was only me."

Some of the most mediocre food I’ve had since living in New Orleans and I’ve been to a lot of restaurants. Everything would be rated like 4/10.… and it was SO expensive considering how unimpressive the food is. Server was inattentive and not very friendly either… oh and guess what? They automatically add 20% gratuity to your check even if you’re alone. What nonsense lol. There are so many great places to eat here and much better service you can get… go somewhere else!!! This place serves sub-par food and has sub-par service. My husband and I travel to New Orleans quite a bit, and this was by far the most disappointing food joint we’ve been to. Granted, there was no wait time-and the establishment is very well kept-it just was not an overall good experience. They automatically charge 20-yes TWENTY percent gratuity to all tickets. With that type of automatic gratuity you would think you’d get tremendous or at minimum great service-right? WRONG! Our waitress didn’t bother to stop and ask if we needed refills, if the food was satisfactory, or even up to our standard. It was so bad, We had to get our own condiments. My husband and I both ordered catfish. Granted...

I ate at the bar and had the grand Isle burger which was really good and a side of jambalaya. It was good but for $8 it's a kind of small portion. They didn't give me a straw in my drinks, and never offered refills on my water or Coke. I don't necessarily mind that they add 20% gratuity. They're up front about it. But if they're going to do that I wish they didn't bring it back and try to get you to tip again on top of that.
